Look at the poll of crank failures... it's damn near 50/50

I turely believe it might be luck of the draw. The only reason I went AF was I would feel really dumb if I put it all back the way it was and break another crank lol. At least this way, I can say I tried

I would like to add to this witch nobody has said. yes you can use a lb7 crankshaft in a lbz but and a big but is it's going you the balance cost and you have to have the balancer and flywheel off a lb7. to add to this it's never going to work unless you have pistons shaved off the bottom cause it will hit the crank. I have learned this the hard way cost me 600 dollars at shop to find out piston hits unless u shave them so have to rebalance crank. so my opinion is just call wagler diesel and get a good used crank. it's not worth the trouble to do a swap.
