Has anyone tried the new Yukon Grizzly locker?

IMO
G-80 is fine for the daily driver
Tru Trac- all around for some pulling, some draging, and DD
ARB- the puller or drag truck the see the street once in a while

Grizzly....maybe another good alternative to the Tru Trac??

i believe the grizzly is pretty much the same as the G-80 in the way it operates...i cant vouch for its toughness perhaps its a little beefier then the G80? i dunno......but in the way that it operates it would feel and act very similar to the stock unit.

BTW i only got the trutrac becuase i broke my G80 at the strip

The Grizzly doesn't fit our trucks.

off road is the locker better....yes by about .2% once again unless your rock climbing...ive had mine off road plenty of times and not just in mud holes but on high speed trails as well where a manual locker would be useless......she always gets good traction. way better then my g-80 ever did no more guessing when or if it is going to lock and no buttons to press or air pressure to keep an eye on....now i haven't pulled with it yet so i can onnly speculate but after checking that thing out i feels its far from brittle......but the locker may get you a tiny bit better traction....but the drive home in the rain will be far less fun

We'll have to agree to disagree...a limited slip isn't in the same planet as a locker. If you really off road...ie mud, sand, rocks a limited slip is useless in a truck our size with no wheel travel. Sure a lite jeep with travel it will do wonders but be don't have that. I guess that is when my g80 did work I was always the one towing all my friends stuck Dodge and Fords in the sand...even with the limited slip in the Dodge they would dig a little and then what do you know one tire on each axle would start to spin....of course you could work the brake a little but in the end with a trailer hooked up they were done. Unhook'em and I would slide in and tow it out...because of the locker...or just put a strap to them I would pull'em out either way. We tested it many times and always came up with the same outcome...the limited slip wasn't enough.

no they make one for the 11.5 AAM...i was looking at it as an option before i got my trutrac

my bad you are correct...i was wasn't thinking correctly when i replied...i thought about that locker but with towing a big 5er it wouldn't work well on the street. If you don't really tow its probably a great option....it will unlock enough for turning if you are off the pedal. Ran one in my Toyota for 5 years with no issues on the street and drove 150 miles a day round trip.

arb air locker

The arb air lockers are STRONG. This one weighs 52 lbs. Best of both worlds, open diff or spool at flip of the switch. We've had them on order for quite some time. Its a much needed part for the 11.5

i dont doubt the experience you stated there at all...but unless mine is just a freak of nature the truetrac always turns them both...i've pulled kids out and been through some prety serious stuff in 2wd and it functions better then my g-80 which would lock and unlock all willy nilly. i just think the design of the trutrac is that much better then the other limited slips in that it works always. i could not get mine in the mud or loose surface of any kind and make it one leg if i tried to...its that good

i bought my trutrac off you guys....good service and shipping

if i remember correctly my diff was something like 68 lbs! as opposed to the 52 of the ARB not saying that makes it better just pointing out for everyone just how severe duty it really is.

trutrac

The trutrac is a great unit too. One advantage of the trutrac is it is still working all the time. So when you are daily driving on wet pavement your not going to get one wheel peel on the road stripes.

ARB’s patented 2-piece case design is manufactured from heavy cross sectioned nodular iron castings for
virtually unbreakable strength and has been designed so that the side gears can be optionally upgraded to 35, 37 and 40 spline shafts. These higher splined side gears will be available in spring 2010.

how about that... its modular as well :happy2:

ARBs are far more rugged then the trutrac. When the lock the are as solid as a spool.

Could you PM me a price.

Pm me a price also.

I like the ability to turn it on and off, especially here where we get snow and ice.

Anytime you have more options, the price comes down on the whole market too :)

David

chad, pm me a price. i just talked to randy's r&p two days ago and they said arb wasn't going to make one...are you sure its for our 14bolt and not the 14T? they have airlockers for the 14T.

Hey Chad, can I get a price on one of those also? Thanks

PM sent fellas:)
