Hhhmmmmmmm, wonder how many Harleys out there getting tickets for noise??? Diesel gettin a ticket for noise is just stupid. It's a whistle loud no where close to turn outs loud...

I would do a hood stack n a heart beat. Think they are sweet lookin'. I say do it

Noise isn't an issue with twins. other than the whistle it is quieter than just about any aftermarket exhaust with muffler.

Im going to do it to my truck and yes I was told it is illegal here for a DD.

Its going to hurt cutting the hood up though:D

There are a lot of reasons why it's illegal, but that being said...

The weirdest thing is the heat distortion and smoke distracts you. When the engine rocks during acceleration, the stack moves a lot, so don't clamp it too tight. Rain goes in it, and when you start it up, it splatters your truck with black globs of oily carbon.

I like hotrodding, but the hood stack is pretty much a bad idea for real driving.

I just laid out the hood with grease pencil and cut it with a jigsaw with fine blade. Put blue tape everywhere or the saw will scratch the paint up pretty good. Sand off all the sharp edges, and get some black trim band from McMaster for 1/16" sheetmetal. You will have to cut an egg shape to clear the hood when you lift it up. Give it 1" clearance in all directions.

Hood stacks are cool,They " mean business"

My friend runs a 6'' SS hoodstack on his 85 chevy dually(CumminGs swap)

He bought the " fake" stack that bolts to hood off of Ebay, not sure of the link, It was about 60$.

Then he just 4'' up from the turbo about 1-2'' up thru the hood, the "fake" stack hides it and does the rest of the job. Looks pretty badass, kind of like a locomotive

This is what I would do if I built a stack setup

Importkilla did it for about 6 mos on his 03 with the homemade twins and never got pulled over. He used it for his lawncare business at the time so it was on the road daily. I still don't suggest it for a daily driver, but he got away with it.

This one??

Maybe you could use a metal pipe escutcheon for a 6" or 8" pipe. I believe they make them that big. Someone correct me if i'm wrong but I believe I have seen sprinklerfitters use them.

Yeah thats 05 smokers brother. There is a powerstroke in lancaster thats had a hood stack for about 3-4 years with daily driving and no ticket to date...He also runs the dog shit out of his truck so im supprised there hasnt been berrys and cherrys involved. There is also a red cummins running around lancaster with a hood stack and it smokes like a TRAIN...I doubt he will last long but i would think if you were driving with since there will be no problem with cops

I gotta believe it would be a distraction.

I want to put one on my pull truck, but man I'm having a hard time wanting to cut a hole in my newly painted cowl hood:(

The green 03 in those videos actually had a black junkyard hood on it that was cut. Stock hood retained for when it went back to single charger and eventually traded in.
