Built motor in a 500hp lb7. Only had 1600 miles on it and drastic drop in oil pressure like a light switch.

Found the problem. I never seen this before any one else?

All the bearings looked perfect. No major damage.

This motor started to get worked on by another shop and we weren't happy with how he wanted to do things. When we got this back from shop #1. We were missing one of the keys for the crank, so our current shop ordered keys from his crank and cam shop and installed them. The failed key was installed by shop #1. We are chalking this up to either bad key and or "it happens". There is a lengthy back story to this motor. But that was the only thing that the machine shop found. They have built 100s of these and this is his first key failure they saw. But we are getting this back on Friday we are thinking and having it running by Sunday. Truckin for kids is coming up fast..:D

I would go with the bad key option. Or an over cut on the brouching. Sorry to see this.

Caspers turbo has a baby brother now. Scored a used ppe gt40 kit for this engine. Figured it was time to replace the old 300k ihi. Had a few hiccups yesterday with some stuff. Getting the bay prepped to bring the truck in so I can install the engine.

Machine shop showed the bad key to the crank shop and they said it was a cheap crappy key and too short. He went and replaced all three keys and the machine shop refreshed it again.

One head was slightly warped so they decked both.

I'm glad I found this place, should of gone there first but was given good feedback about the first shop we tried. Cool part is when I give him a heads up I have a build coming he only asks what cr and what rods, and ATI damper?

It's hard to find good machine shops that know their stuff and are straight forward. This place has done thousands of duramaxs over the years.

Long speech over.
