This couldn’t have failed at a better time. Hours later I would have been away from anything. Week later I would be in a different time zone.

nice little reminder to replace the heater fitting while I was there. Turns out there’s a new Dorman metal fitting now so I did that too. 362,200 on her now.

Ugh. At least it hit at a more opportune time!

Do you happen to have a part number for the Dorman replacement? :giggle:

Oil change, fuel filter, tire rotation. General trip inspection. Ran a dedicated charge wire to the batteries in the bed so they recharge better. The factory trailer wire couldn’t keep up after a couple days with the new charge relay.

362,580 on er Toyos have almost 15k on them now, been rotated twice and have been treating me well.

Man I’ve got some catching up to do over the past few days. Let’s see how many posts it takes to get us caught up.

Left Thursday night/Friday am on our trip northeast to see her folks. Man it feels like a week ago already so that’s awesome.
We were planning to leave about 1am Friday, however my lazy ass couldn’t get up and fell back asleep until 2. I got her up, loaded the dogs, and we were on our way.

About 7am we stopped at white haven Kentucky rest stop and cooked breakfast while stretching our legs. The dogs were beyond excited knowing that they actually got to go with us.

We got to lake Cumberland about 2pm and met up with some friends. Wasn’t planning on staying however bourbon convinced me to stay. Saw a giant 55’ Sea Ray at the marina. A 52 footer was backing in as we walked by. Stayed up until 2am drinking with my buddy, woke up at 6:15 the next morning ready to go.

The next day we got around and met Joe for lunch at a Shades in canal/ Winchester Ohio, super good food and great to catch up with Joe after it being about a year since I’d ran into him.

We headed to Lake Erie to find a spot to camp after that. Ended up catching a beautiful sunset watching it over the lake that looks like the ocean. Such an experience there.

Drove about an hour to the camp area I picked out, which turned out to be a parking lot in the state park. It rained on us so hard I was down to 15mph trying to see the highway lol. Finally making it to camp about 10:15 we popped the tent up and tried to go to sleep. Turns out this was a terrible location as the traffic was crazy and the campground near by was full of ruffians. So after sleeping maybe 30 minutes in the two and a half hours we were there I talked her into getting back into the truck and finding something else.

So about 3 am this morning after fighting with two fuel stations, we roll into a much more promising site. Parking a mere 100’ from the bank of Lake Erie.

The waves rolling in was music to my ears. I set the tent up, washed my face and crawled into bed again.

So at this point I’ve had about 8 hours of sleep in the last 72 hours. Once again at 6:30 I’m wide awake so I got up and looked out to see what laid in front of us, or behind depending on how you see it. Well worth every bit of stress the night before.

After a good breakfast, we just kinda sat and drank coffee and just enjoyed the moment for a minute or ten, slowing getting our ducks in a row for the rest of the day. After packing up we headed further east.

One of the things I wanted to do on this trip was see Niagara Falls, I mean shit it’s on the way. I’ll just say this; worth every bit of the $25 parking and stress of dealing with traffic. Such an amazing place, we walked around for a couple hours with the dogs and just soaked it in. Just smiling to myself thinking; man, this is why I wanted to drive. Just slow down the world, that’s been my goal for the last year. Slow life down a little, enjoy it more and see more cool shit.

After that we hopped on I90 and ran over to a brewery in Faircraft called Brauhaus. A German joint with great beer and amazing food. Sorry no pics as I was to busy enjoying my drink on the patio with the pups.

That pretty much catches us up to where I am now, somewhere outside Albany NY at a campground with showers and a real shitter about to cook fajitas while drinking a local brew.

So far I’ve put 72 gallons of fuel in after driving 1300 miles, which netted me about 17mpg. Absolutely no complaints on that. The 60 gallon transfer tank sure is nice for these big trips. Still had 14 gallons in the truck tank when I filled up too.

total mileage as of now is just over 1700 miles.
