I kinda stumbled into it this year and really enjoy it. I know it’s not known to be a full-size friendly thing, but the ole crew short lbz does it just fine. And I have 1/10th of the cash in my set up as all the Toyota guys, have 3 times the power, at least twice the load carrying capacity, and get better fuel mileage with an otherwise stock truck.

Me and my girl go as much as we can with the pups. My little boy has been with me a couple times and loves it.

The goal is a truck I can drive daily (I do), and we can go anywhere in at a moments notice and have everything to stay gone as long as I can afford.

My setup -
Hoopdie rollover lbz I bought and painted in my garage.
$200 camper shell off Craigslist that’s been on 4 of my trucks.
Used Eezi-Awn tent
Used ARB roof rack with brackets welded to the cab to mount it.
35-12.50s on 17x9 wheels, matching spare
More or less stock height
Tie rod sleeves
Homemade drawer system in the bed for storage and accessibility
Coleman cook stove

The “wants”
12k winch
270* awning
Refine my drawer system
Build a rear bumper with swing away tire carrier
More fuel capacity
12v fridge freezer combo
Lower gears
Maybe bigger tires if I go with a 4” lift

A few pics if I can figure out how to make them load.

Nice Corbin!!

Erin has made it a point she wants to go overland a few states over a 6 day period. I had 0 arguments for her lol. My tracker is sorta setup already but never it’s intention. I wanted a roof top tent but the back end is so soft I don’t think it will do well with that much top load.

How of trips do you guys go on? Much wheeling in the truck?

Our longest trip as of yet is two days 😂 we usually drive a few hours, find camp, camp, Wake up and hike, then head home.
I’m trying to talk her into a Grand Canyon trip over Christmas though.

Last trip was the most aggressive I’ve got wheeling. She’s a newbie to the off-road works so she’s not the most comfortable.

However we go alone, so I have to be very cautious not to get stuck or tear shit up.

Expeditionportal.com has a good full size section, and even some really great GMT800 tech (although more geared towards 1/2 tons)
The fullsize picture thread has some great motivation

I enjoyed taking my LBZ out and just did my first trip in the LB7, but didn't wind up camping like we wanted.

Check out the OnX Offroad App if you haven't heard of it

I’m trying to stay away from other forums as it drives me to spend even more money!

I’ll look it up!

Haha oh I know all about that. It’s the worst reminder around my birthday when I start getting automated birthday emails from all the random forums I’ve forgotten I’ve signed up for.

also, here’s a shot from my trip the other weekend79A1346D-0F10-405E-BE90-96A5C47E9AC3.jpeg

Worked today on the rear setup. I still have some finish work to do, but it’s sbout 75% done. Moved the hitch forward and up a ton. I about got hung up on my hitch last time out. This and this weeks upgrade should help that.
