My security light is also on. I have owned the truck for a year and had no other problems with it. However the pcm shows no vin when you hook to it.

Go to a different dealer. If they cannot flash your ECM they don't know what they are doing. It is done with a Tech II . They get your vin and look up the ECM calibration on GM's site upload to Tech II and flash your ECM.

Worse case they have to pull your ECM and do it on the bench. Easy just more money out of your pocket .

I did try that but neither dealer offered to take it out and do it on the bench. Is this reason the security light is on due to the pcm having no vin programmed in.

You can type in any VIN that is compatible with the truck your programming through GM's TIS website. What are you using to view your VIN number? We need to see the code that the security system is setting to get a good idea on where to go to diag it.

I have not changed the pcm but I have only had it a year and a half. I appreciate the responses. The dealership told me they thought the pcm was locked and they couldn't get in.
When I try to put a programmer on it, it says no vin on pcm.
