Anyone have a rear main install tool that I can rent?

I actually have that set already, the largest driver is nowhere near big enough, not to mention the seating depth as mentioned above.

Here's a pic of that set with both seals for reference.

Everything that I've read says that using the tool is critical if you don't want leaks. Rear is definitely not worth taking a chance on since the trans has to come out if it leaks. Front isn't so bad.

Anyone else besides me continue to wonder how in the hell Kent-Moore can justify the prices on these "special" tools?

I'll give you a chevette to deliver packages....then you won't wonder anymore

Not a valid comparison. Nothing justifies $300+ for that install tool, just as nothing justifies $140 for a flywheel holder for the 3.8.

Your an idiot... If you can't afford the specialty tools needed to properly do the job then you shouldn't be doing it...your the same guy who bitches about high labor rates at shops who invested so much money for these tools ,not to mention have the experience to use them..these tools are not meant for the "one time user" some things can't be done in your home garage...what would you say if I said shipping a package from Cali to pa wasn't worth 50.00 bucks o that's rights we gotta pay those over paid ups drivers who have no respect for packages

I've worked from the bottom up my friend learned from mistakes and when people complain about the cost of "much needed tools" in this industry it gets under my skin

Sorry....but when you spend thousands to repair these things and listen to people complain day in and day out it gets old

Man, you are a piece of work.

"Some things cant be done in your home garage" I'll give you that boring/honing a block or surfacing heads wouldn't be normal, even though I do know a guy who has an entire engine rebuilding setup in his home shop, and another guy with a pretty cool lathe/mill/cad machine, but I can do pretty much anything a shop can do otherwise....it just may not be as easy or timely for me.

I dont think Ive ever complained about shop rates, but then I do most of my own work. My mechanic is very reasonable, and I go to him when I have a job I do not have the knowledge/ability for. (not often)

Are you really going to try the old "shipping is too expensive" bullshit on me? :roflmao: :roflmao: If you could possibly come up with another way to get something across country for less, I'm all ears. Must be you like working for free? Is fuel free for you, too? Well, my family has to eat, too. Keep that in mind.

As for the "no respect" thing.... I'm sorry your driver is an asshole to you, but he's not the norm.

Thanks for the offer, looks like I'm set for the tools though. I appreciate your concern

Sorry guys. A mod should probably go ahead and erase all that. BTW, I borrowed Ben's install tools way back when myself b/c they were too expensive.

I apologize for the derail, Chris. Hope you get your engine put back together soon.
