Unfortunatly the gassers do not respond to tuning like diesel. A/F is critical and their is vary little if any room to make much power. you might get 30 hp.
You can bump up timing very little and if it pings its only gonna pull it out itself and be even slower. the only way to work with a gasser is to change its flow by way of heads cam intake and exhaust or turbo, supercharger, N2o
and the reason a 6.0 is stronger is the obviouse Cubic Inches.
Please be carefull tuning it without an A/F guage, But if it were me id leave it allone unless you force it to breathe

Yea, don't get your hopes up for big increases with a stock motor... there is a tiny bit of power to be had by fine tuning afr's and if your lucky you might get it to take a little more timing without knocking...

You can feel like u get more than 30 out of a gasser in ways of butt dyno when you start removing TM. Im not saying your going to get a gain like a diesel as we all know thats not going to happen but there is soooo much TM on these its unreal. As for a 5.3L I would start removing a little at a time. Remove all your Burst Knock. I dont have any TM in my trans or my motor (and I tow alot) and Im always running 92+ gas. Only prob Im having is the IAT's are high and its going into KR but thats a work in progress...just have not had time to mess with it lately.

Sorry I haven't been back on here. Mother board and hard drive took a dump. I am using the LQ9 in the firebird with the fuel injection. I have a friend who is really good with HP tuners and we have been comparing screens to try and figure out how to convert them to efilive. I just want it to stand on its bumper one time and I will be happy:thumb:. I think I lost my 5.3 supercharged tune but I am still digging stuff out of my hard drive. It won't boot windows but as a slave I can acess alot of my files so I will try and find it. I will also try to get us a copy of the Escalade I put the magnacharger on. It has the 6.2 As far as IAT temps that can be fixed very easy. We moved our sensor to the very end of our intake pipe on the 3800v6 mazda we did and it dropped 30+*. You can put in a resistor but if you go to much it runs to rich all the time:D fouls the plugs. If your drag racing it does change things dramatically when you do. I used a resistor that made it think it was 45* and it adds more fuel and timing. The trans am did very well at the track but we didn't remove it for the drive home and it fouled the plugs the next day:(

So are the MAFs at the intake beginning also house the IAT sensor? If so how do you move it closer to the TB? Im having a HELLUVA time trying to cool mine. Im thinking of going with Volant with induction piping as I have K&N now with it modified around the inside and a test induction pipe from my air dam and I can tell a difference when moving but its still sucking in hot air from the motor no matter what. That and I cant seem to get my KR out at half throttle low speeds. Its not burst knock either. Damn KR sensors!

depends on your maf. I have had some success but cutting the IAT wires from the maf and extending them to the tip of the air box. I believe some of the newer mafs cant be done this way but its just 2 wires to cut and try, you can always solder them back if it doesnt work. The earlier mafs had a seperate sensor like the 98-2000 Trans am did.
