Just curious if anybody does this. It seems with the adaptive shifting it could be a good idea. Maybe not.

I drive around in normal non-T/H mode on the street, and T/H for towing. I don't street race and I don't tow my toyhauler like I'm pulling a sled.

Would it be an advantage to have a TCM that has only learned how to drag race? Or is this a non-issue?

As a side note, I do run with an ATS Copilot.

I drive my truck around not in tow haul. When I get to the track I don't put it in tow haul and it shifts fine.

I have the learning turned off on mine. I'm not sure but I seem to remember someone saying that turning it off is only an option on 06's:confused:

isn't it also VERY bad to do that?

I made a tune to where I liked it and didn't want the damn computer to change it for me. I've been told it is bad but I have about 50,000 rough miles with it and never had a limp or broken hard part. Maybe I'm lucky or maybe its not soo bad if done correctly;) I really don't feel like putzin around to let a computer "learn". When I build something I want to go beat it, not drive it like a honda for 500 miles:confused:

load my TCM tune in
reset taps
press tow/haul
go

Almost the same

Load TCM tune
go

:driving:

My truck is slower in T/H :D

I suggest to everyone to make a couple passes each way since every truck is different. Blue is faster with T/H on.

True!

Its only been faster in T/H one time, other than that my fastest runs were always with T/H
Lately and most of the time I dont even reset taps, only when its laying down on the shifts i try that.:D

I have a seperate race tcm that only knows WOT. I only do this because I compete so often and it seems to be more consistant. At some events I'll only get one time trial and then into brackets so I don't have time for the truck to learn.

That is a good idea.

But, my TCM connector on Wendy is busted and every time I would have Pat swap it for me. I would have to hear "You know there is a chance your truck will be stuck here":(

So it seems a little bit of everything so far.

How much do TCM's run and who has them? Like MMLMM I don't need any tuning in it.

You keep the same ecm tune in all the time don't you?? I would think the tcm tune wouldn't be effected as much as a learning stand point if the ecm tune was the same.
