I offroad my truck....

I just wish the factory GM bumper wasnt such a giant flimsy piece of plastic. My fog lights are removed from breaking and the bumper is all bashed up from approaching obstacles. There is a challenge to offroading a crew cab truck and I think its fun. Ive been crawling over rocks and getting through ravines more than I have towed anything.

 that's a video of some really $$$ tractors towing things  I wasn't complaining about how our trucks haul or tow I was talking about IFS offroad abilities being sub par IMO.

He's showing you that IFS works for offroad...

JD ILS getting worked "offroad" (although not very hard):

Any row crop John Deere tractor with duals on the front from factory (and other tractors if the buyer specs ILS) is going to be IFS/ILS, you can't properly use duals with a straight axle because of the leveling required to keep an even contact patch with the duals. +1 for IFS. Plus they ride a hell of a lot better while busting ass through a field at 10+ mph using vertical tillage :D

I was talking the standard definition of offroading IE recreationally using a Duramax pickup truck on trails/in the woods/sand/mud pit....I could take a video of my truck driving down a dirt road and say yep the IFS sure works offroad :thumb: I'm talking articulation (to some extent at least)...

I guess my trucks must be beasts, cuz when I have 20k pounds of square bales hangin off of my pental hitch while crawling over 3 foot terraces for the last several years and nothing has broke on any of my IFS trucks. As I stated we had more down time with our SFA trucks breakage.

When you ranch or farm your truck are constently pushed to there limits. Mud sand trail wash out roads you name the ranch/farm trucks will see it.

i couldn't agree more... who in the hell honestly offroads their 60,000$ truck? my truck saw the offroad for one night back when it was brand new, one night of incompetence caused 2 bent cross members, bent rear diff cover, and my engine got covered in mud water which caused calcium deposits to blanket every single piece of cast aluminum under my hood.

I do! And that is what pays for the truck;) My truck has over 200 000 miles on it and I get average pay of 50cents/mile. That pays for my vehicle. I would honestly say my truck has spent at the very least 50 000 miles on back roads muddy leases, frozon ice roads and the odd ditch or ten:D and washbored roads.

Please enlighten me on what is so special about a SFA and what is wrong with IFS?

In the 200 k im on my second set of tie rods. My 3rd wheel bearing and thats it! As far as suspension. And it still rides like a big ol caddy:coolspot:

Same people who turn them into race trucks, sled pullers and land speed racers :coolspot::happy2:

Not that I would know anyone like that :spit:

There's a big difference between work and recreational offroad.

Oh? How does the truck know if its going to work or play?:D
I didn't mean in form, only in function. Recreational offroading serves no purpose. Going offroad for work purposes pays the bills.

That said, most people that use their truck for work are probably a little more conscious about treating their truck with care than someone who is doing it for fun. When you're going out for work, typically you are trying to get from point A to point B in the easiest, quickest, and most direct route. When you're going out for fun, you're trying to find the most difficult and challenging way to get from point A to point B. Unfortunately, sometimes both are one in the same.

Just got my new issue of diesel power, what's on the cover?

Cummins Allison super duty, ultimate combo.

I don't think its the ultimate combo, I think its a beat to death pointless topic

My dad always said that fishing lures are not designed to catch fish they are designed to be bought by fishermen.
Magazines are going to put something on the cover that the masses will purchase.
