Has anybody done any sound deadening of the cab or have any experience with the different products available? I'm thinking about doing something to my floor pan and firewall on the engine side. It's so noisy in my truck on the highway I don't even wanna take it anywhere. I know there is Lizard Skin and Boom Mat. I'm leaning more towards Boom Mat, I think it would be a lot easier and cleaner installation. Any suggestions or advice would be great!!

Back in my car audio days I used dyno mat, it goes on the mettal like a big sticker. Worked really good. Did the entire interior didn't have any road noise, couldn't hear the engine just the sounds from the speakers

Ok sweet, does anyone know if stick on products like boom mat or dyna mat will be ok in the extreme heat on the outside of the firewall? Also my hood does not have an insulator on the bottom side and I've talked to some guys that swear it makes a difference. I don't see how the hood would have any effect on interior noise but i guess it's worth a shot.

Fatmat is a cheaper alternative to dynomat if you don't want to spend the $$. I put it on the floor, roof and back wall of the cab and noticed less road noise. One of these days I'll finish the doors and firewall, where I imagine most of the noise is coming from.

Also put down a layer of 1/2" thick sound coat foam on the back wall. Not sure which made a bigger difference or if you should run the mat and the foam or just one

I don't mind to spend a little extra for a better product, just don't really have any experience with any of the different products and what works well and what people like

I used B-quiet deadening. Put up the firewall as far as I could with the dash in, did everything else except the headliner. Really worked well. Not sure if it was worth 12hrs work but it is quieter

Nice! I have 4 layers on my back wall in the reg cab to keep the subwoofer from rattling it.

Ensolite helps a ton with in cab noise too. :thumb:

I have full dynomat on the whole floor, and all of the doors. I also have mass-loaded-vinyl on the floors as well. Makes a big difference, definitely worth it IMO. Nice and quiet now. :thumb:

After checking this out I think I know what I need to do, this guy seems like the go to guy for audio or sound deadening. He even sells his own products. Anybody interested should really check him out. Thanks TheBac for the link!!

I had a few PM's back and forth with him last year, the area below the dash panel and the HVAC ducts are the most overlooked area's of vehicles. So when I pull my dash panel to find the godawful grrrrrrrr in there I'll do it then....

I dont think you'll be so excited to do it once you start. Pulling the whole interior can be a complete pain in the ass.

Not sure what year truck you have so here is a link for the dash removal on the classic trucks and after looking at it awhile back I know why I have not fixed the grrrrrrrrrr in the dash. Scroll to the bottom of the first link for the continuation of the link...
