Then you should have been honest with Ryan, and told him that when he called you about it. Instead, you told him how it was a great deal, and that you would even help him on some stuff with it. He gets off the phone with you, and calls Morse up a little later planning on buying it, only to find out that you already have.

How do you think I found out that Morse was trying to unload it ? Ryan called about it and I told Ryan there were open invoices and that I was going to call Brad. It was a good deal at that price but Brad wasn't going to be able to send any money my way to compensate for the labor, powdercoat, and other recievables so I offered to buy it from him less what he owed. He agreed to the deal.

Again, business is business, and I should have had right of first refusal from the moment he decided to sell.

What would you do when you have over 30 hours of "sponsored" time @ 75.00/hr in a motor that is about to be given to the lowest bidder.

I realize that's how you found out he was selling the thing... Otherwise Ryan would probably be the proud owner of it, and you and Morse would've been left to work out the rest right or wrong. It just looks like Ryan could have been made aware that you were planning on buying it,(maybe you tried and there was a misunderstanding) when you were on the phone with him. I think you could see where that would leave a bad taste in someone's mouth.

You can't squeeze blood out of a turnip. From what I can tell he's being taken to the cleaners by his wife and money is a short commodity.

Sour taste is something that I've been tasting for 2 years while the motor was sitting in the car not generating any advertising money back.. Sponsorship has conditions and to not get any advertising from it, and then our labor, parts, and money be given away was more than I wanted to put up with.

I would hope that you guys could see where I'm coming from. Call me if you need to.

PS This is not a shot at Brad in any way. I hope I never have to deal with a divorce because I've seen what it can do first hand.

Yes, I know where you are coming from. I don't think he would have been pissed if he had been told that you had right of first refusal/first shot at it. Ryan got the impression that you were willing to work with him on it, after he bought it. I'll tell him to give you a call if he wants. He may still be interested in it if its for sale.

It happened very fast. I didn't mean to step on toes, but I've found in business that if you don't act fast when you have the chance to recoup some money you'll never get it back.
