I Have Been Having Some Issues With My Truck Here Lately And Had To Sell My Ppe To Help With The Cost. Which Is Fine Because I Was Planning On Going To Efi Soon Anyways. What I Want Is The Dsp5 Switch From Tow-"Race" But Cant Afford It Right Now, But On The Other Hand I Can't Stand My Truck Being Stock. The Question Is Can I Get A Street Tune, Purchase The License And Have Someone Local Install The Tune For Me Through Their Software? If This Is Possible Will I Still Be Able To Use The Same License Later When Purchasing The Dsp5 Switch And Tunes Or Would I Have To Start All Over?

Thanks For All Your Help!
Wayne

yes, you can buy a license for somebody else's software and have them flash the tune to your truck, but that licenses will not transfer to your software when you buy it.

pay the 100 bucks now and have someone do it for you, install your switch and use it. when you have the money for the efi tools it comes with 2 more licenses. call it a wash. then do your own flashes from there on out. if you send your ecm it still is going to cost you money, most likey more than the 100 bucks for the license.

Nope!! The software is $799 to EVERYONE that markets it - so the 900 dollar with 2 free tunes it total bullshit - you're definitely paying for the tunes at that price.

What you need to keep in mind between the two options you post is that with buying the license and tune you don't actually get any tuning software - someone will load a tune into your truck and you drive away. If you want to return to stock, clear codes, log etc, you will have to "borrow" their FlashScan device to do so. If you decide down the track to purchase EFILive you cannot move the license already purchased from one FlashScan to another.

You should also be comfortable with the $100 tune - has it been dyno tested?, is it proven not to cause issues?, will it be custom enough to meet your needs? was it written by a person with a high level of tuning knowledge? etc.

With the first option, you are getting the EFILive software and FlashScan V2 hardware, so you have the ability to change you tune 100s of times (if you wish). You also have the ability to tune ANY supported vehicle - LS1, LS2, many other gassers as well as diesel.

Again, with respect to the tunes in Option 1, for those sort of prices you would expect the tunes to be written by an expert who will not only offer support for those tunes, but will also offer software support to get you started on your tuning journey. I don't know if they do or don't, but these are questions you need to take back and ask.

Cheers

The EFILive hardware comes with 2 licenses to tune 2 different vehicles. Each vehicle uses one license, even if you have a DSP2 or DSP5 operating system and switch installed. You can put on as many tunes as you want with that license, the only time you need a new one is if you tune a different vehicle.

Most places that sell EFILive will give you a DSP2 switch and 2 levels for free when you buy efi, all for $799. You can most likely get EFILive and a custom DSP5 tune (with 5 levels) for less than $1000.

I'm not sure where your from in Texas, but if it was me I would look for someone on this board who was close to me and is willing to help me tune my truck. Then in the future, if I did purchase EFI, it comes with two free licenses which I can use to modify and use the tune that they put in the truck for me-as long as they didn't lock my ecm.
