i joined dp around first of the year cuz a buddy of mine told me the have a lot of 5.7/6.2/6.5 guys on there. well, i have a soft spot for idi's cuz my first car was a 81 grand prix with a 5.7 diesel. anyway my dad has an old 84 el camino with a 5.7 that needs someone to love it. randy the hack was in chat so i entered the room excused myself for interupting and explained that while i was new to dp i had over 500 posts combined on the other three diesel sites i'm on and could the for sale ban (30 days and 25 posts) be lifted since i met the post requirement but not the time one. he says no. i say "any wiggle room at all? i've seen your name on other sites, chances are you have seen mine too." he says (paraphrasing) if i bend the rules for one then others would want the same treatment. i haven't been on any other site for 2 1/2 years. i say "who exactly would know that you bent the rules for me? do you really think anyone knows when i joined?" he says "well, you only have 23 posts, 2 shy and you joined on jan 2 only like 5 more days to go. you don't have long to wait." so i say "well it's obvoius you haven't been on any other sites lately or you would see how everyone thinks the dp sucks and now i know the reason why." i was then promptly kicked out of the chat room! anyway, i'm probably banned but i sure made me feel better and i got a good laugh out of it!

So you're mad because they have rules that they enforce? You realize that rule was put in place because someone joined and scammed a bunch of people out of money. I believe there is even a similar rule here.

x3 what Josh said. I dont think DP is at fault here, either.....the rules are the rules. If you cant follow a simple rule for their Marketplace, then thats your fault.

Yup, it's fairly common to have restrictions for sale forums.

It's mostly in place to stop spam. Few spammers will post long enough to get permission to advertise in Garage Sale.

Seems like no one wants to follow rules anymore. Most businesses have rules and it is their perogative how they enforce them. After all they do own the business.
Like it, don't like it; learn to accept it or don't go there anymore.

I get the post count and the 30 days.

If you dont want to put some effort into the site and get to know people (posts allow you to post whore up the board to get there), then go to the newspaper, ebay, or 1 of the other million outlets to sell something, which ironically all have fees or rules to sell as well.

Maybe read the rules before joining. These are message forums, not really intentended for selling products. Its to interact with people in the same hobby. The boards just happen to offer for sale area with rules. Need to be a good standing member to use the feature.

Sorry dude but I have to agree with the rest as being a past moderator there WE set them rules up years ago for the reasons stated.

I was involved years ago setting policy's. No fan of Randy -The-Sack but he's correct. Bend the rules for you then you have to bend them for who-ever. You could be the straightest of straight shooters but rules are rules.

It's easiest enough to get involved over there to be able to sell items.

Good luck.

i understand a post count, but not the 30 day thing

Because if someone wanted to they could post 30 times in 30 threads in a few minutes by just putting similies in them. We had problems in the past where people tried to do that. It upset them when we kept deleting the bogus posts and it kept resetting their count to zero. Like other sites we try to do what we can to protect the members.

yep....pretty much, lol! i do understand the rules. i just want this diesel el camino to go to a good home before it gets hauled to the junk and he and his chat buddies really laid into me like i was asking for the moon. and stars. i just don't think the admins/mods over here and other sites treat people like that
