I would wait til I had a running motor before I talked to much shit. Your truck has been down for what almost a year and still counting. Just slapping in the motor and taking it to the track does not get you a 10's pass. Before the cage if your going to beat he truck like this and call it a daily driver build for hauling your wife/girl friend and 2 new babys around you will need a spare motor and trans not much will hold up long at the rate your talking. You have held off all this time from building the motor because of money it would suck to go and blow it up at one race to try and beat a lly. Its going to take a high dollar twin turbo setup to run what you want and some money in that trans so in this short time span your dropin 10k to 11k in the motor another 4 to 6k in the trans 8k in the turbo setup then still need tuning time. If it was that easy to run in the 10's you think Pat,Trent and Simon would of took the time to get there with the list of broken parts they have. These trucks can cost you more then just momey to keep them running it can cost you your free time and your wife / girl friend and kids and once she leaves from being pissed off you willo be paying out the ass for child support. Its easy to dump your life into a truck as the saying goes your young dumb and full of cum. If I had to do over again I dont think I would of dumped the money that I have into mine that I have into it. It was cheaper in ways racing the 79Z28 and you can go faster and still have the truck to tow it to the races and hual the family around.
You are right on Henry IMO... It all seems simple at first becasue you start with a 15sec truck and for 6k and hardly any drivetrain/suspension mods shave 3 sec off your 1/4 mile time.. You then see other people on the boards and say well I can just buy the same turbo's/fueler's that guy has and run 10's
Its not that simple by a long shot, I am still relatively new to this whole Hot Rod Diesel addiction but I am learning real quick just how much work and dedication it really takes to get a heavy a$$ diesel to run 10's
I could have bought another house for the money I have wasted in the last 3 years on this LITERALLY
IMO, once you start making the power it takes to run 10's its not your DD anymore, it is going to break, it is going to be a constant investment and a significant amount of work to keep it going on a regular basis. MY only suggestion to anyone reading this or contemplating going big so to speak, take your time evaluate your situation, dont get carried away and max out the CC on a impulse because in the end not only will you be mad at yourself but will have now dug a huge hole so deep its not easy to get yourself out of and will create even bigger problems at home., all for a hobby..:screwy: I only buy extra's when I can pay cash and it does not effect me or my families lifestyle. I could easily max out my CC and go crazy with both trucks right now, but I dont want that stress hanging over me so when time and money allows I will get it done... That said, I will have my CC with its new built motor ready to run 10's by july 16th and also have my spare (Stock) motor sitting on the stand in the garage for when I blow it up again
