All BS aside, if everything from the factory was as good as it gets there wouldn't be a desire for aftermarket parts and custom tunes would there? There are plenty of ways to accomplish a powerful well mannered truck.

I agree, but i find the shift "quickness" with a well built trans to shift extremely well on near stock torque values.... just my .02, but i know we have put a LOT of stock trucks with built trans only into the deep deep 12s by doing it this way.

I rode in one steve tuned a while back, it shifted really nice!

you, him and only a few select others would be my only choice for tuning. Its just nice hes local and good friend of mine so i could be really picky in how i wanted the truck without having to do lots of logs back and forth and trying to interpet what the truck was doing over the phone or text. I was like a kid in a candy store when i finally felt a clean shift, i just wanted to keep hammering on it over and over again . I know brian is nothing but happy with his truck and you tuning, even though hes as scared of the big tune as i am of mine :joker:

I stock truck from
GM shifts extremely fast and awesome.... I feel those working very hard to "fix" defuel are going backwards in a sense because to " fix" the defuel they first had to mess it up some how. I run stock defuel in all of my tuning, and they shift perfect. Some say "that will shift too slow", but our track times with Allison's say different. Brad at Calvin's has worked with me quite a bit in this aspect and we have come to the conclusion that factory defuel is perfect.... If you have large defuels, it isn't because a tuner is trying to "save your trans"....it's simply because it was messed up somehow and not fixed.

All in all, if it doesn't get messed up in the first place, then it doesn't have to be fixed... I run nearly stock torque tables as well, I still get full cubes where I want it :)

Excellent post Kory...I agree completely with everything here. :thumb:
