I heard that Gm did there own tuning for the transmission, but Allison has there own that works better then the Gm tuning. I figured someone should know something about this on here. This is coming from a guy that did a Allison conversion on a cummins. Any thoughts?

Allison only has medium duty tuning . That's all they ever had. If you like driving in T/H all day long and have the Alli downshift every time you let go of the pedal, go for it.:D

I read that post also and was curious about it.

Mike L., does it shift any better/faster/more consistently than the GM tuning?

It sucks as far as I'm concerned. Go drive a Kodiak and see how you like it. You may love it. It will down shift every time you let off the pedal. It feels like T/H on steroids.

What about the hole learning side of the adaptive shifting? I figured we can modify it to make it shift better , but I was more wondering if the foundation of the tunes were different or the same.

Daily drove a Kodiak quite a bit and if I was keeping that truck I would have made some major tuning adjustments. It drags out every shift way too far and like Mike said it will downshift if you come off the throttle at all.

I know tuning will not fix mine, I really want to get mine more consistent. WOT it shifts great or seems to, part throttle shifts are not the greatest all the time. Is putting in a one of Mikes new springs and ditching the copilot a good idea?

If you do that, you must drill the 2 holes in the plate.

Someone also said the allison tuning does not go to neutral in between shifts..he says gm programmed allison to do it. He said you can shift an allison as fast as you want without tieing up gears. Is this true? I find it hard to believe.

Not the way the Allison shifts you can't.
