Allison build

So I raced another duramax up a hill today, had it on my street tune so it wasn't all I had and It slammed into 4th without the converter locked and wouldn't shift into 5th to save it's life, I still beat the guy but I had a check engine light pop up and my cts ran it as a p0700, i knew i was walking on borrowed time but it's time for a trans upgrade or build.

so what I have for you duramax junkies is give me some advise, I'm in North virginia so big dipper is right up the road, the end product of my 04 lb7 will be around 750 to 800 ponies so I'd like a trans that can get rode hard and put up wet asking for more.

should I get big dipper to do it or should I post for a trans kit and shop for parts and a decent Allison guy?

Thanks guys!

Don't look for a "decent" Allison guy. Take it to someone that knows what they are doing. Been there done that. It may be okay for stock truck with tunes but anything more you will have problems. Plenty of info on here and guys that know how to build them

Mike is in California. He's in Virginia

Drive up to Evan. Probably around 10 hours.

Sorry guys, missed where he said he's in Virginia. I was looking in the upper right corner where it says California. Go to Evan at Limitless Diesel. It's who I plan on going to eventually.

If George is "right up the road" from you, then why are you even asking? Get an appointment to have him work on your trans.

BTW, P0700 is just the trans telling the ECM to light up a MIL. You have to use a better scanner to read the actual TCM codes.

The best thing you can do is call the builders that are a option for you and ask what exactly your getting for your money in your build. Then do some research on those products and make your decision from there.

Thanks for the responses guys, I need to change my info on here, but I'm stationed at quantico now so I'll have to take a weekend and go up to Georges shop, I've called and emailed him before and didn't get any responses, not bashing him because I know how busy guys get.

I just thought I'd get some input from y'all before I made any decisions DD hasn't let me down yet so this is always my first stop.

I'll look up limitless and give them a call. the truck is tuned by Bobo and I have everything I can do to the engine without swapping sticks and turbo so I have the trans taking all it can it's only a matter of time, this is the first problem I've ever had with it and I only had it on my street tune, I've never put it on my biggest tune from fear of trans issues

I would recommend Evan at limitless of course, but for a stock truck I would not drive ten hours to get a trans built. If your plans really do include 800+hp then that may be something you should consider. Start adding billet parts and it is going to get pricey quick.

Big dipper is just about impossible to get a hold of but builds a solid trans
Diesel addiction is a few hours south of you.
Diesels unlimited is new to the scene, right around big dippers area, can knock one out in no time at all.

Call Evan. You will notice real fast who has customer service by calling different shops. That's one thing I love about this forum. The sponsors are pationet about this hobby and most of them work outside 9-5 to keep customers happy. I hate waiting weeks on weeks waiting for return calls. Hell. I was chatting with Evan at 9:00pm central time last night. If you can't get ahold of George now what happens when your built trans fails?

Save your time and effort tracking people down, if it's that hard to do business with someone, you don't need to give them your money.

Call Evan @ limitless and be done with it.
