Since most of you on here have tuned trucks I figured y'all might know.

Just installed ProFab manifolds , up pipes, down pipe, WCF turbo intake horn, y-bridge updated kit, both intercooler pipes , and air intake/air cleaner. Fass150 and fully deleted .

Evan got my tunes from Kory Willis. Now I know the stock trans won't hold the power since he got me hottest tunes for my mods and built tranny , since I'm building it in the very near future.

Truck runs great and I don't plan to run it on the home higher settings but I was blown away when the engine over powered the converter and pegged the tach on setting #3.

Trucks 2004 CCLB 4x4 6" lift with 35's and heavy bumpers etc.

I'm not complaining and figure weight of the truck probably doesn't help.

Just curious at what power level have others seen the stock converters over powered to the point it will tach out when it hits 3rd?

Can't wait to get my kit from Evan and get all this new found power to the ground.

Yep what Corbin said and some are freaks and hold 500rwhp tunes.. my LLY wouldn't hold a 60hp tow tune with 80k miles. My LB7 with 287k holds max effort tunes all day long. Your heavy truck along with big tires do not help one bit running power with a stock 5 speed.

Yeah the weigh and rotating mass I know has a lot to do with it.

Was just curious if anyone else had their motor over power the converter that easily and sounds like the answer is yes. Which #3 should be 150hp tune since he started at 50hp-250hp.

Yeah tune 3 for built trans is around 150. Definitely enough to blow through a stock converter and destroy some clutches in a stock 5 speed.

The tire weight and size don't help either. The gear ratio is lower than stock and loads the driveline more.

What you describe sounds more like you're blowing right thru the fluid coupling of the converter. The stock converter doesn't couple well at all. Esp one with a lot of miles on it.

Build it and let her eat.

Just a thought, hope you don't break some hard parts prior to rebuilding the transmission running the hotter tunes. My 90hp with a few other modifications on the engine I have felt the converter chatter a little.

I have a good idea of where to let off the skinny pedal, 4-5 and 5-6 upshifts, 6-5 and 5-4 downshifts via the throttle and am real careful, this is something I rarely if ever do. In your case it would be the 4-5 and 5-4 shifts........:woott:

Moved into Trans area.

I just dont understand trying to run 500+ thru a stock trans.
