Why are alot of people dogging on the Allison or have they been doin it for a while and I'm just now hearing it? I thought it was the best tranz to have? Its not junk is it? If so, what's junk about it I'm curious. I know you need to build them up to hold up to high HP but for the most part its good right?

When a truck runs good, its because of the driver...when a truck runs bad, its because of the truck. Thats when people start talking about the PARTS.

I think some people expect WAAAAAY too much out of stuff. The Allison was designed to tow and be smooth, not race.

On that note...I wouldnt put any other tranny under my truck but the Allison

The Allison isn't a very good transmission for drag racing. It was meant to hold up to heavy towing behind diesel engines, and it does that very well. The one good thing it has going for it is the internals are way beefier than what comes in a Ford or Dodge.

i love mine! Love the way it shifts and that TC locks in while towin. Plus i really dont hear of many people blowin stock input/output shafts at 500-600hp like the dodges, even on big tires like i got :D

Stop hanging around dodge guys and you wont hear much anymore. lol

No factory trans in a 2500+ diesel truck was designed to race....they work pretty damn good for what they were designed for though...

No, but some lend themselves to it better than others.

Explain. The duraflite in a sled puller will not compare to an alli.
No argument there, Mike. I think the size and strength of the hard parts in the Allison make it very well suited for something like sled pulling where strength is more important than time. I just think the design of the Allison doesn't lend itself to shifting as quickly as one of the Dodge transmissions.

agreed, but I was stating in stock application they work great. Along with the rest of our truck. Timing/strength is just right for the [insert % of stock trucks here] of the people who DD them and dont race/sled pull.

:thinking2:
