Alli 6 sp slipping between 3rd and 4th upshift

Greeting people,

I am running an edge on Hot 2 with a trans jr and an Allison deep pan with no filter lock.. I have never thrown a code yet. Recently with the cold weather here in Bakersfield I noticed as my truck shifts from 3rd into 4th there seems like a slip 2-300 rpms then it goes into 4th. Trans temp is usually under 100 degrees when it happens. When I run it out the back door, no slip. Also When I punch it from a dead stop, the truck shudders and hops but takes off like grease lightning. I also installed 4.56's 2 weeks ago to offset my 33" tires. and my mileage has dropped to 12-13 city/ 18-19 hi.
Finally: YES I have a heavy foot. YES I like PRO-launches.

So bottom line question is: In anyone's opinion how close am I to grenading this tranny? is it the beginning of the end?

yeah 4.56's are a little short for 33's. they are more suited for 37's. i have 35's and 4.10's and the speedo is within 1-2 (slower than gps) mph on the highway.

The shudder sounds like you might have a bad carrier bearing. Check and see if the rubber around the bearing is deteriorated.

The shudder is only on launch. Like going over very rough blacktop. Is the carrier bearing on the outside by the yoke?
And the other is that my tires are not tall enough?
I had to go into my edge and change my tire size to like 160/60/15 to get the speedo to slow down to a close speed.

You have a crew cab long box by the looks of it, so you have a two piece driveshaft with a carrier bearing in the middle.

Yes I do have a CCLB. ok, and so the rubber will be deteriating? any other indications? too loose , too tight?

The carrier bearing rarely fails, but the incoreect angle of the driveshaft does a number on the rubber supporting the bearing. it's the rubber that gives out.

Never changed a carrier bearing on a D-max but assuming there similar to others? The bearing is pressed on and a bit of a PITA to change with out the right tools. JFYI...

the one in my donor truck didn't even have rubber left inside of it when I pulled the shaft out, and this was an 01 3500 dually with no lift and 162K miles that was 100% stock. But the bearing inside wasn't bad by feel. Also due to the rubber being gone it had let the driveshaft move forward and had knocked the welch plug loose in the slip yoke and was leaking pretty bad there.
