I read an article a while back (Nov 10) in the Diesel Power Magazine about a truck with air suspension. It really caught my attention back then and I've been considering it more and more lately.

What is everybody's take on it? Is it a good idea? What should I go with? What are some of the disadvantages?

I'm currently running a Stock 03 LB7 CC 4x4. Suspension is stock with an extra leave. This is my daily driver. I don't tow a lot, but am planning on buying a 5th wheel camper down the road.

The main reason why I want to convert is ride comfort.

Thanks for any input.

There's a few kits out there by firestone and airlift. Some just add the bags the one kit I looked at replaced our springs with trailing arms and kept the bags out back the same as a big road truck that kit was by airlift. My other half Darryl aka tractor runs just the bags from both companys on his trucks he my jump in to which he likes better.

Hattiesburg..... i live there 23yrs.... i have a set of Firestone airbags that i use for 3 months and took them off for something else..... as for riding better to me it still rode like a chuck wagon with them... but it does hold a load up.... i'll let them go for 175.00

The only thing that's going to give you more of a cush ride (air suspension wise) is a system that removes your leaf springs. Both Firestone and Airlift have kits to do this. A single sleeve bag (big rig style) will give you a great ride plus allow you to still tow heavy.

I'm running my own 6 link set up with convoluted (bellow bags) on the outside of the frame just behind the rear axle, then use a panhard bar to center the rear. Mine rides great, doesn't wheel hop and i can still tow my car trailer with it no problem.

That sounds like a great price, but right now I'm not in a position where I can buy any upgrades (just doing my hw for now :( ). I'll hit you up though when I do get ready to start buying upgrades.

I know this is a month old. But this is what your talking about http://www.talon-usa.com/ Replaces the springs and you have air ride like a big truck.
I have the Firestone 5000 lb air bags there not for the ride but to level out the load and that they do a great job. And if you don't remove your over load spring with this type of air bag it will make it ride rougher then stock..
Heres what I have started looking at more, plus its less then 25% of the air ride and does a great job on the ride department.
http://www.morryde.com/php/products/suspensions/tow_vehicles/index.php Click on the truck and it shows it in action. Everyone that has it has told me it turns there truck ride into a easy ride that will stow a load. And I was told by the owner of the company when I talked with him. That I could still run my air bags with it also.
