Well after a little bit of frustration and a little bit of elbow grease, I was finally able to paint my air dam. First thing I would like to say is: It's great to have good friends who are there to help you, if it wasn't for my friend Evan, I wouldve probably screwed this up.:drink

Taking off the air dam was a real bitch, the three center clip holders were a pain in the ass. But once we FINALLY got the air dam off, we cleaned it with 91% rubbing alcohol. After cleaning it, we added a coat of adhension promoter. We let it sit for 15min before we started painting it.

After letting the promoter settle in, we started painting. We used Krylon's Fusion Plastic Paint. Now it took a couple of sprays to get the right coat on and making it look clean. The paint dries pretty quick. After we felt that it looked right, we let it sit in the garage over night. Today we installed it back onto the truck. NOTE: I only drive my truck on weekends, it stays in the garage during the week, so it has plenty of more time to settle in. So here's some pics...

Don't paint the hooks red. If you're going to just get a new one, paint that 'tie black. It will look good.

I am doing the same thing this week and remembered to check here to see if you used a promoter or not. Black bowtie looks good imo, especially after the OEM one gets a few rock chips etc in it.

How is your valance holding up to chips?

That looks really good.

I still think the 01-02 HD chevy's are the last really good looking truck Chevy has produced. I'm not saying the newer ones are ugly but the 01-02's are just plain awesome looking.

My dream duramax (including mine) is an 01 Chevy LT CCSB in burnt orange.

Yea! The burnt orange was a awesome color I thought! The closest thing to your dream truck I've seen is this 8.1 CCSB Chevrolet 2500HD burnt orange truck that a woman drives. She's got a little too much chrome on it, but its cool to see the color.

Update: The piece is still holding up great. And I just replaced the bowtie with a brand new factory bowtie. The truck is starting to look new again. :D

What about a red and black bowtie. Leave the outside area in grill black and paint bowtie red or vice versa. Think it would look really good.

Well I've never had a problem with the factory color. I just got a new bowtie from GM. I like how it looks so I dont think I'll be painting it. But I could paint the old one??? maybe.
