you guys are so stubborn. What is wrong with the thing running like factory? If its not overheating and the temp runs stable then why dick with it???? This isnt a gasser, stop treating it like one; it doesnt run better the colder you make it. Mike has said countless times DONT DO THIS.

your trans will NEVER heat up, you'll never get lockup, and you'll waste a shit ton of fuel, not to mention be annoying to drive.

If the original poster is enough of a know-it-all that thinks he can run it against what all of the allison experts have said/advised, then he should be able to look up/source is own damn radiator without help from us.

ben

Biggest reason i wanna do it is because you say not to:D

So the only reason the trans heats up is because of the engine coolant?

Have you actually tried this? Are you a expert? Why do you feel the need to bash the OP?

this is a truck with the Trans cooler mounted in the bed with a bed cage like i said back at the start of this this is not a truck like you think it is so stop thinking like that it has no air flow to it unless the fan is turned on so stop thinking like you know what you are talking about step outside the box you live in and what you have been told that is write and wrong ALL I WANTED TO KNOW IS IF ANYONE KNEW OF A AFTERMARKET RAD. (running in the desert in the sand with the stock cooler set up we have been at 220+ since the change i have not got it to go over 190 and it heats up to 150 with the fan off in about 10min.) Like i said think outside the box you have been told about this truck runs in the So Cal Deserts as a chase truck pre runner

..... Ive thought about putting a smaller radiator in my truck to make more space, but this is a good topic now.:D

This is about the only reason I would consider changing the radiator.

What Josh and Ben said though are actually valid points to maybe not want to change it.

Got Honey?
wanted to see if we can bring the engine coolant temps down a little with a better rad. and the trans cooler we have made and are using will get to 185 degrees then when the fan is turned on it will cool the trans temp down to 150 degrees in about 10 min. Wanted to see if there was a rad. out there that was all aluminum and not plastic that did not have a built in trans cooler

I know not of an aftermarket rad that will do anything significant, for the following reason:

What I have found (to your objective), is that in typical configurations, the radiators worst problem is not size. It is ambient upstream heatup. It is not unusual to see 260 f heated ambient blowing onto the radiator on the hot side of a CAC.

Eliminating ambient heat is something to think about. If this is relevant to a recent email, I think I understand.

Are you still using IFS up front? If so, I'd really like to see some pics.

Im not saying its going to work fine, or that im going to do it, thats why i was asking, it was a thought, but my goal is NOT to make it run cooler, nor is my truck overheating, but for room for different ideas i have. I beleive in not fixing things that are not broke to an Extent, but that wont help you win. Personally i just like popping the hood and people goin "wtf?? is that a duramax?" :D I wouldnt think of doing it on a daily driver, just cause what you said, the stock works fine.
