So I'm finally getting tired of the read errors and such associated with the stock TNR and have half a thought about possibly looking for a new headunit. I know there are adapters out there from PAC (OS-2C-BOSE) and Axxess (AX-ADBOX2 I think) that allow an aftermarket headunit to work with the stock amp, but the big thing is how is the sound quality, and with the LUX amp, since it controls the volume, not the HU (Unlike the 'premium' amp that is just a dumb linear amplifier and the HU increases its output to increase the volume), how does the volume get controlled?

One thing I can't complain about is the sound quality from the Bose LUX system. I've got a full aftermarket system with 3-way speakers and a small amp & sub in may car and it sounds 'OK', but the Bose is MUCH better IMO.

the PAC adapter is ok, but the chime and blinker noise is terrible. the chime sounds identical to an older ford.

I agree.I have a GMOS100 to integrate my Kenwood head unit and the chimes are downright cheezy. Also,I regularly keep getting XM info displayed on my DIC.
