Well today at work I decided to see how well my intake is sealed up. We have a machine that introduces smoke under low pressure into a system that can be closed off. When I hooked it up to the mouthpiece it smoked all around where the mouthpiece seats against the turbo. So I took the mouthpiece off and cleaned its surface and I cleaned the turbos surface and the clamp that hold it to the turbo, Well i put it back together and it still doesn’t have a good seal. What can I do to seal it??
Here is a picture of how much smoke was coming out.

Anyone know how to get the mouthpiece to seal good to the turbo? The clamp is as tight as it will go.

I had the same issue on my LLY. The vendor I bought it from told me it was installed wrong. So I installed/uninstalled it way too many times trying to prove them wrong. Never did get it to not leak.

X2 that would be ideal. I wonder how many of these are not sealing correctly, yet still being ran. I'd imagine more than a few.

I will be taking the AFE mouthpiece off tomorrow, i will put the stock one on till the AFE is done. i will smoke test the stock mouthpiece to see how well it seals. The AFE will be droped off at the machine shop to have a grove machined on it for an O-ring to seal it good. I sure hope this works.

They should all have O ring seals machined and furnished with the price of that stuff. Those guys should know flat metal joints need seals at those pressures don't you Think? What would us commoners know I guess.

I went to the machine shop and the guy there told me it would be good just to put a rubber gasket in between the mouthpiece and the turbo so he made one. i will be putting it back togeather on teusday and i will test it again just to make sure its sealed good. I believe that AFE should have a O-ring machined into them when you buy them.
