I have my 2002 lb7 with the zf6 trans and the mods listed in my sig and I have hit a crossroad. My clutch is all but done, if i put my programmer on level 2(+70hp +120ft. lb. tq) as soon as i hit 2250 rpm in 6th gear at any more than half throttle the clutch lets goes and free spins. Also I put new injectors in 15k miles ago but i have yet to get a lift pump. My question is should I go ahead and do the clutch or the lift pump as i can only afford one at the moment? I have concerns both ways, if i do the clutch then im concerned that it will reduce the life of my injectors, but if i do the lift pump then the clutch could go out and leave me stranded :( I dont want to have to spend $3k on injectors AGAIN and i think if i detune the truck i can limp it around and make the clutch last, but then again maybe not....Worst case scenario my dad has several extra vehicles that i could borrow but I dont like borrowing anything. Whats everyone opinion? and sorry for the long post:eek:

I would do a clutch first and get the more expensive upgrade out of the way.
I was leaning that way as well but i will kick myself if my damn injectors go:mad: Anybody running on their 2nd set of injectors with no lift pump? If so how many miles are you at?

Im also worried about my cp3 going out due to lack of fuel lubrication because of the bigger injectors....any input on this school of thought?

just buy a good fuel filter, run some additive and do the clutch, you for sure won't hurt those injectors with the truck parked cause it won't move, seems kinda like a no brainer to me

Pardon my ignorance, but how would a working clutch hurt the injectors?

You still have at least factory filtration, right? Because if not, do the lift pump immediately. If you have any filtration, I'd do the clutch first.

Definetly a no brainer. Do the clutch, as bad as lb7 injectors are they won't go bad that quick. Keep the fuel clean and add additives

Run a good additive and you should be fine. keep your tuning on the low setting and you shouldent drain your rails.

clutch first, what good is a lift pump if you can slip the clutch that bad on level 2 of a tuner? Once you own your truck for a while you will won't give a rats ass about the injector issues. Also, read and learn how to do the injectors for next time and save yourself a nice piece of cash. :)

Ive read up on the replacement process and im more than confident enough to do them myself but the bulk of the cost were the injectors themselves, theres a great diesel mechanic in town that works cheap for cash.

Unless you have other means of transport you better knock it back to stock and nurse it along till you can get a clutch and get it installed, otherwise gonna need a good set of walking shoes

Between my dad and step mom they have 9 vehicles and i can borrow any of them but i. just dont like to borrow other peoples vehicles. I guess a better question is how worried should i be about injectors without a lift pump?

What clutch does everybody recommend? Im not looking to go over 550hp and im not wanting to break the bank either. I know southbend is supposed to be the best and ive also heard good things about valair but what material is recommended for a DD? Whats the difference in all the different materials? Also does anyone have experience with clutchmasters? I know theyre a trusted name for cars but theyve just started building diesel clutches i believe. Any insight is appreciated.

All i see on his Kennys site are 3 and 4 disc clutches, does he have any more clutch options for a street truck that arent listed?
