Long story short, i limped the trans last year, p0735. Never happened again, but trans would feel like a flare in 5th. It didn't seem to happen if in tow/haul mode. I would let off before limping the trans again. Anyway, I have time this winter, pulled the trans and took a few measurements:

C3 clearance-.086-.090
C3 clutch pack(whole)-.914

C4 clearance-.105
C4 clutch pack(whole)-.916

Both return spring assy-.233
Both backing plates-.399

Clutches don't look burnt, but the clearances are well out of the .070-.075. Any help on how to tighten these up? Trans is a Gmax5 kit put in by me 2 1/2 years ago, about 20k miles.

I have yet to dig into the C1-C2 assembly.

I would refresh the packs while your in there. The hard part is done. U pulled it out might as well freshen up.

I have no problem with ordering new clutches, but what happens if the new clutches are the same spec as the ones I have now? I would be out several hundred and in the same place I am now.

I`ve got a set of c3`s and c4`s right from george at Suncoast and they showed up exactly to the measurements he told me they would be, not "kit" tolerances. :thumb:
