Like the title says, I'm curious if anyone here has access to Carfax reports? I'm looking to buy a car but would like to run a report first. Thanks guys

If your going to purchase with a bank loan have them pull it for you.

Paying cash and it is through a private seller. I'm being a tight ass I know, I'll pay the $35 if no one can help me out. Thanks though, great idea. :thumb:

Carfax has it good points and bad points, in my case bad points. I sold my 2007 2500HD NBS gasser with 50,000 miles, clean, 6 years old, low mileage, one owner, well maintained. The carfax came back with an accident and it does not go into detail the damage, just the fact that it was in a motor vehicle accident on a public roadway. Guy hit the rear bumper dinged the bed no structural, I lost $2500.00 when selling it. I failed to file a diminished value claim against the at fault parties insurance carrier at the time of the claim...

It may work to your advantage, in my case it did in someone else's...

Sorry to hear about that. What I'm trying to accomplish is establishing communication with the previous owner. The car is a previously salvage and I would like to know exactly what happened. And yes, I am fully aware of what I am getting myself into when it comes to that aspect. Thanks.

It also doesn't account for repairs not claimed on insurance. If cash was paid for the repair, it won't be on carfax

Yep carfax is bogus, waste of money. My insurance company does not even deal with them but they had a ton of incorrect info on my old truck. Auto check is better
