Thanks for the article, LBZ.
Also, thanks for sharing all that info, mytmouse! I always wondered what your background was....too cool!
Now why couldnt a person take that rod design and adapt it to a Dmax? It can handle TF, so why not a diesel?
 No Prob Tom!
As far as Alum Dmax rods go, if they are truly out there and or have been run, i havent known of them. Our rods are Howards which incidentally make Dmax rods, so they would be a great choice to have them made, sure they can, just a matter of money. Now, the alum rods would not benifit most of us much IMO, but the full race crowd or guys really pushing the RPM's, is another story. There can be a significant weight reduction to be had but also at the cost of, well, COST and fatigue life. Alum rods will only last so long. We ran ours for 40-50 runs, but we constitute a "Run" as anytime the engine was fired, whether it was a full pass, warm-up, or just a burnout, they count as a run. Some run less on them, some more, some guys use other racers used parts! But we always bought new parts, not worth risking a very expensive motor. How long will they last in a Dmax? Hard to say, its not known to us, and if someone does know, there being quiet. No doubt in my mind it can be done, just some uncertainties.
Lotta drag racing/motorsports/car culture heritage in Kansas and in my family
Always liked goin fast! Growin up ridin in big block pro street camaro's, and old muscle, hot rods! Dad owns a small carlot, so i was basically born with wrenches in my hands and been workin on cars since day one to a BMW tech now. My racing Started with a Jr. Dragster, to my 79 Malibu wagon that ran 18's on the 267ci small block, to 15's with a 360ci and threw parts at it and got 13's and made it hook, runnin mid 12's
I was Crew Chief/engine builder for the 69 Nova Pro-Mod that used to be my dads low 10's bracket car, never got to drive it, Just too ungodly expensive that we had to let go for now as the econ went south, But now, I pilot our new 69 Nova and to a best of 10.36 black trackin to 60ft mark
Should run 9's in good conditions! If things workout, maybe a big turbo on it next year!
Ya know, Really, lookin at life from this angle.....Its been a pretty fun ride so far! I feel fortunate and thankful for that!....just gotta swerve the potholes in the road the best I can and keep the pedal to the metal!
