AC Delco Water Pump

I bought a water pump last year had it welded and im about to finally change out my stock pump and I came across a few threads talking about a whine after the install stemming from the gear on the new pump being smaller than the older ones? any info on this?

The whine is from aftermarket pumps like airtex, napa brands, ect. The ac delco should be the same as oem.

i put a napa one in mine and it has been working great ever since.

The new updated cover number is 97228188 OE and the pump is 251-723 OE and 252-838 ACDelco. These are LB7 new updated part numbers.

I only run the $93 "lifetime warranty" water pumps from advance auto. Ive never noticed any noise, but when again maybe im just immune to and used to various "different/odd" noises coming from my engine.

Mine has a gear whine, its an airtex from advance autoparts

I used a NAPA pump and mine had a whine for about a day and its gone. Been fine ever since though.

Put a Oreilly new pump on mine with a lifetime warranty awhile back. Never had a whine when installed and was only about 75 bucks or so through my dads shop.

My NAPA pump never whined. Some do, some dont.

When building gassers in the 80s I tended to use moroso and eidelbrock water pumps, is there even a premium pump for the 2003 lb7?

Also I have yet to figure out how to post new threads, any help?
