There is a couple of my favorite liquor stores that stock a few different kinds in Red Deer
Lots of them will order if you ask nice.
The stuff on the left is from france, on the right is from czech. The french stufff taste wayyyy better, has a strong liqourice taste and smell and does louche well. the the stuff on the right just does nothing and taste's bad

Simon, I found a bottle of the most amazing looking green sht. It even has the wormwood floating in the bottom about about a half inch thick. It looks as potent as hell. 3100rubles a bottle which is a little over $100US. I'm gonna buy it, lock myself in my room with no sharp objects and see what it does to me
Hopefully I can smuggle it past Cdn customs!!
Just my luck that the one liquor store in the city next to me carries 8 different kinds lol.
its hard to find the real french or swiss absinthes in canada, the french stuff i bought is OKAY, its an imitation absinthe but its not bad. its drinkable. I also hear the Canadian Absinthe called Absinthe Taboo is pretty darn good also. too bad im poor right now or else i might go buy that

internet. make sure it has a high percentage of wormwood to get the full affect
You do realize that even be able to feel the effects of wormwood (thujone) you would have to drink like 10 bottles of absinthe and what mostly caused this was the poorer quality ones back in the 1900's that would contain chemicals to make it look like the real stuff, so basically people were feeling the effects of the chemicals and not wormwood (thujone). read this here about it Thujone.
go to Absinthe Online They have lots of varieteies to choose from, you can also go to Fee Verte To read up some reviews on different Absinthe's. Expect to spend around $100 for a good quality bottle of the stuff.

Most of the absinthe made today is not of the actual process in which it was made back "then". This is where the real stuff is important. The correct way to drink it is in a two level glass. Absinthe in the bottom, ice in the top. 1.5 ounces of Absinthe and pour cold water over the ice, allowing only water to fill below. This will turn the liqour hazy.....quality Absinthe will turn glowy hazy green.....remove the upper ice cup and drink.
