Hey everyone, I'm looking to build my Ally pretty soon and I've already ordered my PPE kit and I'm just trying to get an idea of everything else I'll need? I'm sure the kits are just as minimal as it gets and I want everything right. The tranny is a spare it's fairly low mileage ( 60,000 miles) I've seen torrington bearings for less than $10 so I'll probably be ordering those since I don't believe the kit will have them. anyways thanks in advance for the help guys!

So far I've emailed the vendor I bought the ppe kit from they haven't responded yet.. Big surprise there  but their site really doesn't have anything past the kit. The kit didn't come with the instructions but I found them on PPE's website so no biggie there. I'm ordering a seal kit and the torringtons I have my clutch spring compressor, picks and screwdrivers, and I'm sure whatever surprises await me I'll find a solution. Thank you for the help guys! :thumb:

Make sure you check and double check clearances...you get what you pay for in them cheaper kits

Check all components ppe simply repacks other manufactures parts and that leads to mistakes

I've already checked all components and the clearances will definitely be double checked this will be my first Allison to tear down and hopefully the only one I have to put in this truck it'll most likely never see over 500 horsepower but everything will be inspected and all wear parts replaced this is my spare so I won't be getting in a hurry to get it done.

That's why Mike said call the vendor you bought it from. To many fly by the night diesel shops ran in parents garage that don't know chit about the products they are selling. Then when people have issues they have no idea so then people have to call and harass Mike on how to fix there mess up. All just to save a 100 bucks. Forums make people think that they are real mechanics now days.

I'm perfectly capable of building my transmission myself I have the tools and knowledge however I have never built an Allison I ordered my parts through xdp not a fly by night shop. All I was simply asking is what else I need to be looking for besides the kit. Some people need to shut their mouths if they aren't going to be helpful this forum wasn't meant to trash talk ppl for doing something themselves. Every mechanical thing that I've ever worked on i completed I've messed up sure who hasnt? But i was doing this sort of stuff long before these forums.

Just take your time and lay things out in the order you pull it out. Having the allison manual is a big help also since the Torrington bearings have to be the right way. Ppe's directions are pretty good but you can call them if you have questions. Don't be surprised by some peoples answers on here

if you do call PPE talk to someone other than Rick. He has NO clue what hes talking about and is the guy they transfer you to when you call with trans questions.....

I have Dans number at ppe I'm sure he can point me in the right direction if I need any help. I try to ignore ppl like that but I get annoyed when people are asking a question and someone chimes in with criticism I didn't buy anything from mike and wasn't harassing him I never planned on calling him anyways I just had a question after I ordered my "kit" I had no idea what was coming besides the main components now I have it in my shop and see everything else I need now I'm ordering the rest. I just wanted to try to get ahead but thanks everyone for the useful comments! :thumb:

Don't take this the wrong way but I've delt with ppe customer service on a trans build. I was calling about clearances and their response was call mike l.
