As you may know, my buddy Mark and I drove to Mizzou to pick up a box for my half ton project. Had an uneventful, fun trip down, no problems at all, until after dinner....

when my truck decides to completely loose prime. No matter what I did the truck would only run for about 15 seconds at a time. First time EVER that BBT has let me down. This is at 8:30 pm on a Sunday...so no parts stores were open, and we were in a strange town. Horrifying thought that it could've happened at any time on the freeway, too.....yikes

No, I dont have a lift pump on BBT. Havent for years. But it will now.

Enter clrussell. Corbin and Riley Gullett had both PMd me their phone numbers before we left, and told me to call them if anything happened. Well, I had to call Corbin at 9pm on a Sunday night. He dropped what he was doing, packed up a boxful of supplies that he figured he'd need to solve a fuel prime problem (filter head rebuild kit, hose, clamps, etc....), got in his truck and drove an hour to help us out. He rebuilt the head and replaced a line inside of a half hour and got us moving again. Initially wouldnt take any money other than to pay for the rebuild kit, but I insisted he do...at least to pay for fuel.

On the way home, the prime issue started back up. Would only happen at idle, though. Going down the road, the truck acted like nothing was wrong. Talk about a strange issue. 700 miles from home.....oh shit.
So stopping for anything other than fuel was a no-go. Leaving/getting back on the freeway for fuel was an adventure. Lots of downshifting, revving in neutral, running stop signs, etc.
One of us had to sit in the truck and keep it around 1500 rpm when at rest areas while the other went in, too.

I texted Riley (as we were driving down I-70 near his home) and asked for help. He replied back a little while later and was ready to help, but unfortunately we had already passed his interchange by a ways and turning around was more risky than moving on.

I even called Danville Perf, and Mark was gracious enough to call me back and discuss what he and I thought was happening and did his best to calm me down, as I was having a nervous breakdown. LOL

So, I give a huge "THANK YOU!!!!!!!!" to RGullett, MarkBroviak, and especially clrussell. Somehow we made it home, but only b/c these three DD members helped us in whatever way they could.

Thanks guys, from the bottom of my heart! :thumb:

P.S. -- Corbin's 500,000 mile white regular cab is as advertised, guys. That is one clean, good running truck.

Always good to hear these stories ..... Sucks about the fuel issue though. Hopefully this gets the half ton closer to the track though:D

Tom is was great to meet you guys, glad we at least got it halfway running.. Sounds like it's time for a new filter head and that Kennedy pump..

Kinda regret not installing the spare filter head I brought, although it might have been worse off as I don't know the condition of it.

Wish I could have gotten your call sooner, but glad you made it home somewhat uneventful.

You gave us the edge we needed to get home.

Racor PFF4245R2-04 already ordered. Kennedy single deluxe pump will be. Im just hoping it's not the CP3 weakening.

Probably just the suction side getting weak since you ran tuning with no lift pump. Usually, lift pump fixes the issuse. My lmm got so bad it couldn't handle the stock tune without falling on its face and setting change fuel filter message...

Fuel lines on engine were replaced with GM oem hoses when the engine was rebuilt in 2010.

Pickup was pulled from tank way back in 2009 when I had the raptor pump on the truck (junk, junk, junk), but not touched since.

Anything's possible. I'll figure it out eventually. Heck, I could have one of those pinhole leaks in the feed lines from the tank, too.
