OK i know that the price of fuel is getting completely out of hand. but the problem is that just complaining about it isn't gonna help any. the only way to change things is to do something about it. now I'm realistic about this, not everybody can drive tiny little cars or ride a bike. but seriously we as Americans have to ban together and say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!! you got a friend thats thinking about making bio diesel, support him help, him out. got an old motorcycle? ride that. personally i think the best way to change fuel prices for the better is to stop burning so much. and i know i know i love pulling and drag racing as much as the next guy, and i WILL NOT give those up without a fight. but recently i haven't been driving as much. i tell all of you though i would like to see every truck driver in the country just stop driving for a week, that would defiantly do something. to effect a real change in fuel prices we need to start small, drive only when you need to, slow down to 65 on the highway :eek: (remember a journey of a thousand mile begins with a single step) thanks for reading my rant everybody. I'm off to get some used veg oil for making some bio :D

In Northern California I just payed 5.09 per gallon for diesel. It is absolutely disgusting. :(

I just posted in another thread that converting litres to gallons, and Aussie dollars to US dollars, I'm currently paying $6.97 US to run my Mazda 6 diesel.

In Australia we've had about a 40% price increase in Gasoline this calendar year alone, and Diesel has gone up by 25-30% in the same time.

We've got income tax cuts from our new Prime Minister coming through on July 1, but the tax cut won't even cover the increased cost of fuel, it will only be a matter of weeks/months before everything delivered via Road increases in price too - food, consumer goods, building products etc.

Cheers
Cindy

I saw last night T.Boone Pickens on fox. He's an old school oil man. He's getting out of oil and into alternative sorces. He doesn't doubt $150/barrel in the near future. Your right Toby, it's all supply and demand. With China and India consuming record amounts of oil demand has gone way up and production can't or won't keep up. It'll probably be a good time here soon to buy a new truck. They're having a hard time giving 'em away right now. Ford is shutting down truck assembly lines as are the others. Check out race cars on ebay. There's alot of em for sale right now for this time of year. Alot of project cars.
:eek:

Thats that link from CompD right Pat?

Im seriously considering buying a pallet of 4 55 gallon drums and seeing how it is.

Cant beat higher cetane eh? :D

All depends on shipping costs though, but by buying 4 barrels on a pallet I think itd still be cheaper than what fuel is today.

Actually, I think that CompD link is from some old info I had posted. I'm not allowed on CompD because I'm straight. Reverse sex descrimination. :(

I bought a barrel 6 months ago, but haven't had time to test it. Shipping cost was about $400. :rolleyes:

The other barrel is B100, and the nitromethane is for ... uh ... err ... cleaning things. Yeah, cleaning parts! :angel:

Anyone have the balls to run straight veggy oil in a Dmax yet?

Veggy oil is about the same price as diesel right now.

Somebody around here is running that. I heard he took his truck in for injector problems, told them he runs nothing but veggy oil, and they told him he just voided his warranty.:(

Testing will be a PITA. We need to isolate the fuel system with a T-valve so we can switch fuel on the dyno. Problem is the return rate.

Dan agreed to help me test, maybe we can use your truck.

GM allows B20 IIRC, but no higher.

For those not versed:

B100 = 100% biodiesel, no petrodiesel.
B20 = 20% bio, 80% petro

WVO = Waste Veggy Oil biodiesel. This is used cooking oil, and must be processed with methanol and lye.

Shipping for 4 55 gal drums from the company is about $450 (truck freight to a loading dock).

2 or more barrels gets about a $20 a barrel discount.

So Larry or someone else from Texas... drag a nice big trailer full of drums out to Cali and you will sell them all :D

F it, Im calling to order some on Tues.
