The 20" tires are more expensive than the 18" tires is what I meant to write...
I just paid 988 shipped (normal everyday price) for a set of Cooper AT3s in a 285/55R20 and got a 75 dollar rebate because of Black Friday. I don't call that horrible. I can see buying 35's and 37's mud tires in 20s, that expensive.......

Youre still wrong. Lol.

Cooper at3 in a 285/55r20 is 247. Same tire in a 285/75r18 is 281. The price between the 18"-20" might be a difference of 30-40 dollars.

Well duh that 18" is more expensive, its an inch taller. You have to drop to a 285/65/18, which is an odd size but the tire prices are almost dead on with the 20" then.

30x4=$120.00
40x4=$160.00

You must be pricing the cheapest tire you can find.

Shipped, not gonna happen for me as I buy local, free rotation, balance and flat repair at Costco.

Maybe that's why you pay more. I bought mine from discount tire who is a nitto dealer for only 590 not mounted. non dealer tire shops have to pay a markup to get other brand tires and that's even if they can get them.

They have a D rating so they are not rated for an 8 lug truck but the load rating is fairly high for a D rated tire, higher than some E rated tires I have seen bit I still wouldn't tow heavy with them.

:confused: D rated doesn't mean it's not rated for an 8 lug. Discount looks at the load capacity compared to the trucks rating. I've seen Ds rated for more than Es. Generally the difference is just the amount of plys in the tire. I've been running Ds on my truck for years and had no issue with any discount mounting and balancing them. At 400 a tire, they only gripe they hate is when I buy certs cause they loose their ass when I have to warranty one

I was talking specifically about the nitto 420 and discount tire. They go by rating and wouldnt install a D rated tire on an 8 lug wheel for me.
