My thoughts on videos that smoke out the streets are well known.
I think they're a bad idea. I think excessive smoke on the streets will kill this sport....this is not the first time I've posted that on this site.
In case you think I'm the only one here that shares that opinion....then PM a link to this thread to the site owner....see what he says.
I can tell you now that we share the same opinion.

Say what you want...but either smoking out 3 lane highways stops...or diesel motorsports stops. The decision is ours.

BTW...I post my opinion on this on EVERY site I visit plus the ones I Moderate on.

I say do what you feel like doing. The tree huggers have their own agenda anyway. So do the politicians in case you haven't been watching the news or reading lately. My kids have done nothing to get the ban on atvs and dirt bikes but someone who was elected in to office had that as an agenda and what do you know there it is. I say have a little fun once in a while, while you can.

Good vid TYREBOYZ.

Wow. Yes, it will and it IS. Go do some research and read up on the EPA summits held at the last two SEMA shows with the EPA and the aftermarket. They are actively pursuing increased legislation against owners who modify, and the companies that make the parts. It's not going to happen over night, but it is coming. Open your eyes.

i think they are going to crack down on daily driver drag racers/pullers but we will always be able to pull and drag race and i think it will be hard to get ride of the performance market.... laws are made to break even emission laws they are broken every day with gas vehicles. in fact i am one of them and i dont lose any sleep over it

thats just my .02

I'm not as worried about sanctioned events. But honestly, I bet that the majority of companies make the bulk of their money selling the the weekend warrior/daily driver crowd. Which is me. I don't race or pull, but I am a fan of both of those events. Generally, the people at those events are fans, and wouldn't be causing a stink or complaining. The issue is irresponsible use on the streets, where the majority of people are NOT fans of diesel and black smoke. When you're in traffic and you "want to teach a lesson" to the guy who you feel is riding to close to you, and you lay into the pedal and black him out, that cloud sticks around, and others drive through it or see it, and don't realize or care that he was riding too close for you liking (or whatever he was doing) and they are the ones who don't find it cool, or impressive in the least. They could also be the same people who'd protest/complain about the smoke to local politicians or authorities. Last year at Scheid's diesel extravaganza, the idiocy on the street after the event was shocking. So much so, that Dan Scheid himself publically pleaded with the crowd to cool it, since the sherrif's department was getting overrun with 911 calls about shitheads on the street blowing smoke all over each other, and the people who were passing through Terre Haute, and didn't want that crap all over the roads or their cars or motorcycles. The 911 center was busy fielding these kinds of calls, and what if a real emergency was happening and operators are busy with these BS calls because a bunch of people came to town and made a mess? That is the issue. I see people drive around and just belch smoke often times just because they can, not because they are "teaching someone a lesson" or accelerating rapidly to merge into traffic, just cruising around smoking places out because they feel it makes them cool. This type of behavior is what is drawing the ire of the EPA and non diesel enthusiasts, and is hurting the sport/hobby for even the casual users. I admit, my cat is long gone, my emissions devices are defeated and my truck can smoke a tad, so I'm not innocent, but I try my damnedest to be responsible about it, even if I'm not always successful. A lot of us have gotten by for so long because our states/counties don't do emissions on diesels (we don't in PA currently), and we've flown under the radar so to speak. I'm afraid that won't continue, and the hobby we all love, will be in jeopardy.

I'll get off my soapbox now.

x2 they try to do this, try to do that, your never going to get rid of the performance market, for any type of car or truck. you will always know somebody that can get u inspected. you will always know a way to do something. performance is just not going to stop and die. never ever will.
