Hi,

My 06 with about 175k had a steering shaft that rattled like the whole dash was coming out. The bearing assembly (white plastic thingy) at the bottom of the column (inside the cabin) was a little loose. Pushed it up into the column, put a hose clamp around it and tightened the 'snot' out of it. Nice and quiet! It's been about 10k miles since I did that and it needs to be tightened again; the clamp has slipped a bit. Sounds too easy, but everything still works wonderful!! There are several threads on here about doing that fix.

Good luck.

So I had my steering column out today, my dad and I used some grease to relubricate the shaft and tightened it back up, and used a hose clamp to tighten under the dash like mentioned above. I think it's still vibrating slightly....

Also took my brake pads off and cleaned them with crc brake quieter...only helped a little. Still squeaky. It's so annoying and drives me crazy

Did you put the new green bearing on the bottom of the shaft where you put the clamp?

Nope I didnt.

Is the green bearing an updated piece you can buy individually? I was under the assumption that the green bearing was just something that came with the entire GM steering column replacement?

Bearing slides out of the column, I had to smack it out with a hammer and screwdriver.. here's some pics between the updated pieces that I just replaced in my dad's Tahoe.

The last pictures shows the steering column and upper shaft without the bearing installed.
