I know this is a duramax forum but I like just about anything with an engine in it so I want to share something I saw yesterday at the dragstrip (South Georgia Motorsports Park) in Cecil Ga. I was going to try my hand at reaching 12's but with work and tight deadlines to get my truck stripped just wasn't going to happen. Now on to my story, Track gates opened at 9am and tech finished around 9:45am lanes opened @ 10am and boy what a fun filled day I had watching diesels and gas engines alike shoot for faster and faster times. I would have never expected what I saw that happend when two SRT8 Jeep (thats right Jeep grand cherokee SRT8 version) rolled up to the beams and one clicked off a low 11 sec pass and the other clicked off a insanely fast 9.9 at 146mph fully dressed grocery getters. As the day progressed I watched the black 9 sec srt progress to the tune of a 9.51 @ 151.xx mph. I just found it quite impressive that this thing is able to run mid to low 9's and can still take you to publix to get groceries and what ever else you want to do with it and its still fully dressed lol!!! I have to say though its the first grocery getten' suv I've seen with a hood stack and waste gate tube cut flush with the hood

I found a vid of it on the dyno but since the event was yesterday no luck on finding any passes yet. enjoy

I watched that jeep leave 2-3 lengths behind 10sec rides and pull around them it was hard for anyone there to not be impressed by the quick little suv. Everytime the thing made a pass it got quicker and quicker but by the end of the day I think the guy finally ran out of nitrous. If I remeber correctly it made atleast 8 or more 9sec passes and never had any issues extremely consistent times the only info I've found on it is it uses a stage 6 motorsports turbo kit built engine by stage 6 and a paramount performance driveline.

Just think, that truck was cheap to build when compared to an equivalent Duramax...

Im starting to think my truck is looking more and more like a future tow rigg...

That guy has major dollars tied up in the Jeep. I have seen it run for two or there years now and it has picked up more than 1.5 seconds.

Those SRT jeeps are sick. There's grocery getter SS trailblazers going 9s too. IIRC thir "claim to fame" is they're on stock LS short blocks.

Its amazing how streetable the technology has made the badass gasser engines but diesels still hold top honors in being both streetable & badass all at the flip of a switch IMO.
