98mph, no further? :(

Before ANYONE says anything, yes I used the search bar and I couldn't find anything on this. But anyway, My truck gets to 98mph, and that's it. I want to know why, and how to remove it. My dads LML buries the needle...but I can't? Take it easy with the comments, lol I'm new.

I like the theory of removing the speed limiter but hate the thought of being in a 3/4 ton truck doing 100+ near other people.. Be safe man, you'll need a programmer to remove it..

Yeah they get a little shakey at high speed not to mention they can't corner or stop.

It's a lot more fun going fast in a car. Feels like your doing 65 when your at 100 in my wife's TDI and it's still got two more gears.

OH!! That thing I used in Blue as a cruise control! :D

The #1 thing that defines where the OEM sets the speed limiter is the tires.

These trucks are pretty stable at high speed.

LOL Pat you would know!
Yep you need a programmer to change limiter. Make sure your tires are ok to the speed you set it at.

Maybe on your salt flats, come drive on frost heaved midwest roads. You loose your kidneys at 50mph. Haha.

The tires on 2500Hds and such are rated lower than 120mph usually.

Depends on how it's set up:)
Mines smooth as silk at 100, it's stable at 120 but starts to float a bit if I go any faster, it's got a 4" lift and 35's too;)
Drilled and slotted rotors help it to stop and a good suspension and upgraded swaybars really make a difference on stability, honestly, I'd rather go 120 in my truck than in most cars and until I upgrade some things on my SS, the truck is my go to for fast fun

I'm not saying I haven't gone that fast in my BMW or on my street bike but a hundred in my truck on the Texas highway was fast enough for me in a truck.. Ha
