Decided to snag an 87mm turbine wheel and am now trying to decide between a .90 housing or a 1.0 housing.

My end goal is to make 1000 horse on fuel with this turbo, but if the 1.0 housing will be considerably laggier than the .90 housing then i would rather sacrifice some horsepower to gain spool up...

Mark said the 1.0 housing will meet my goals no problem, but i am worried about spool up, my 1055 converter might be a hair tight for the 1.0 housing. What do you guys think? Anyone gone from a .90 housing to a 1.0 housing with an 87 turbine? I also have a 46mm precision wastegate, so if the .90 housing with the gate will get me there or relatively close then i will go that route..

I have no first hand/seat experience with your setup Mike but if you're going to daily drive it much I would go to a 0.90 for driveability. Again just my option, I'm sure others that have ran one will chime in.

This is my main concern. I don't neccesarily daily drive it, but I will be on the street more than the track so keeping spool up as quick as possible is important.

I went from a 72/83/.90 to a 72/87/1.10 and I don't feel that I lost much driveability

Well this pretty much seals the deal. I'm sticking with the 1.0 housing since I will have plenty of fuel to push it. .90 might choke it trying to push 1000 horse through it.

If you were on stock injectors or cp3 I would recommend the .90 AR but with the amount of fuel you will be burning the 1.0 will do well for you.

wtf??? mike, you have a damn s480!!.

Yes that is true but if you hoped in my truck and started driving, you'd never know it was an s480. It drives very nice! :D I'd like to keep it that way for the most part :spit:

I want my cake and i want to eat it too.

Go with the 1.0. The fuel you have on tap, driving around town won't be bad at all. You probably won't notice a difference in spool up from the old setup and the new 87/1.0

Well spool up is all personal preference. I'd know it was for sure a large single, that's for sure lol.

That 87 wheel in either housing will be a noticeable difference either way
