How many people have run the .83 housing in a S366/S369? I know Corbin was going to run one, but I never hear how that worked out. I am not sure if that housing would be to small with out a waste gate. Currently I am seeing around 1:1 pressure, but I don't want to choke the engine on the top to get it to spool better. I have been planning on doing compounds but I want to explorer this option first.

Got one on a Lb7.. my old one.. works out pretty darn good for a small fuel truck.

Do you have a turbo blanket? If you're after better spool I'd start with the easy stuff before changing housings.

Yes I have already have one of levi's blanket.
Corbin, any idea of power and PSI/DP level you were running?

No idea, no Gauges in the truck.. 30%s, stock cp3, fass 150, trans, max effort tuning from Mark.. runs damn good for 35s and a crew cab.. I used to have a video or two of pulls in it.

Bumping this back up, since spring is coming and the truck is going to be seeing a trailer more. Is it worth doing or is the newer S366/69 turbine wheel worth upgrading the turbo over just a exhaust housing change. I am not really interested in more peak power, I just want to get rid of my 5th gear 1500-1800 RPM dead spot when i tow.

I have a 64.5mm S300 with a 70mm turbine in a .83 housing as the small turbo in my compound setup. It spools very fast, but it does run higher drive pressure at higher RPM (above 3500). With a larger turbine, I would guess you would have less problems with drive pressure.

Currently with the .91 housing I am seeing about 46 psi boost and 56 psi drive peak, which I don't consider a bad pressure ratio at 1.22 to 1. I am not really sure how much the smaller housing will effect the overall numbers, but what is considered a bad pressure ratio for a single turbo with no wastegate?

I think the new cover flows better or at least it makes the turbo sound different, but the compressor wheel is the same other than it's probably stronger. The turbine wheel isn't clipped like the box stock turbo and it has the 360 thrust bearings from what I know.

Well I finally got around to installing the housing this weekend. First impressions, it defiantly lights sooner, but it didn't make as big of a differences as I expected. I think Tony has my tuning so clean on the bottem end that there isn't much to gain without more fuel. I did a trans relearn, so I haven't had a real chance to see if it affected the top end, the DP matches BP now up to about 20PSI then DP starts to shoot up. The housing did make the exhaust quieter or at least the quieter in the cab.

What would everyone think is high for Drive pressure on a single S36X turbo? I Just swapped to a S369 from a older S366 and jumped about 8 PSI on drive pressure from swapping the clipped turbine to the non clipped turbine on the .83 housing.

Hey bud, just browsing around and saw no one really answered your question.
I run a 366SXE on a .83 housing, stock stocks, 10 mil cp3. My peak boost to drive pressure is 48/67. Driving around town to about 1/2 throttle I see higher boost to drive pressure. 3/4 throttle I’m 1:1 on boost and drive. And when I’m in it to win it, I’ll see 1:1 boost/drive till about 23PSI then drive will spike to 62-65 pounds but drop back down to 48-52 PSI in 4th gear. At that point I’m seeing 44 psi boost and 48-52 pounds of drive PSI.

Also forgot to mention Im running profab manifolds and up pipes.

I have a .91 housing. I waiting till i have time to install and see what I gain/lose.

Has anyone messed around with the .83 wastegated housing with a 369?
This thread is over 3yrs old since the last reply.

I've talked to a few guys who've used them on smaller chargers with decent results but nobody I've seen has done much with them on an S369 in the Duramax world.
