81' 368 6.0L 4-6-8 cadi motor

Friend of mine has a 368/th400 in a 81' cadi hurst, it is 9,000 original miles and runs like a champ.

Anyone know what they're worth and if I can hop it up and slap in an 86 one ton? I was thinking 500 parts should fit since it's the same block but I'm unsure of that.

I can get motor and trans for 4-500 bucks.

The 4-6-8 motor was considered junk in its stock form, it's amazing if you can find one that still runs. IIRC, it's relatively easy to remove the controls and make it into a conventional fire motor though. There's lots of info on the net, for example...

I looked them up online, some places I read said they were very reliable as long as the E switch for the 4-6-8 was disabled and they couldn't be suped up much.
