That is a bad situation for everyone, family and drivers. But for the most part I have to agree with everyone here. Those spectators took the risk of being that close. The sport will end up suffering because of their own actions. People just don't get the fact that at any type of event like this, be it off-road or on a track there is always a risk of something going wrong. The drivers know it, the crew knows it, the organizers know it...but they can only take so many precautions. There has to be more respect from the spectators at these types of events. Even if there was a barrier or something to keep them back there would have been some group of people that would have jumped past it to be closer to the action. The drivers always get the wrong end of the stick, he could have had a spark plug fly out of that engine and take out a persons eye at 150 feet away and he still would have been blamed....
