8.1 chevy

I just purchased a 36 ft motorhome with a 8.1 motor and love it so far. I just sold a motorhome with the V-10 and was surprised at how well it ran(it hurts to say that). The V-10 towed my truck and trailer 12k miles this year going racing and ran like a top. The new motorhome is bigger and has 3 slides(heavy) so I hope it towes as well as the last. It seems to run real good but I have not hooked the trailer behind it yet so time will tell. I wish I could make the AZ race in the spring to try it out but just not sure the money will be there now (new payment). I really think there should be a big block I hate to see it gone. Jeff

You could still buy the 8.1 in the 6500, 7500 and 8500, there were pretty popular actually, as GM had the market there noone else sold a gas motor in that class of trucks. Alot of utilities, counties, forest service crews, and contractors used them, as they were great for vehicles that were going to running the PTO often, but driving minimal distances. I think just the saying you've got a big block has become so anti-PC in the last decade it had no choice but to die off, who wanted to be looked at in the neighborhood as the guy what was killing off the penguins and drowning the polar bears. Sad indeed.

What about them replacing the 8.1 with the nice 427? They can change the current setup to pull more torque out of it...

Friend just bought a blue '10 z06 and its..... well its quick. :D he has the cut outs option and it finally sounds like a factory vette u dont wanna F--- I mean mess with.
