Boston – National Guard units seeking to confiscate a cache of recently banned assault weapons were ambushed by elements of a Para-military extremist faction. Military and law enforcement sources estimate that 72 were killed and more than 200 injured before government forces were compelled to withdraw.

Speaking after the clash, Massachusetts Governor Thomas Gage declared that the extremist faction, which was made up of local citizens, has links to the radical right-wing tax protest movement.

Gage blamed the extremists for recent incidents of vandalism directed against internal revenue offices. The governor, who described the group’s organizers as “criminals,” issued an executive order authorizing the summary arrest of any individual who has interfered with the government’s efforts to secure law and order.

The military raid on the extremist arsenal followed wide-spread refusal by the local citizenry to turn over recently outlawed assault weapons.

Gage issued a ban on military-style assault weapons and ammunition earlier in the week. This decision followed a meeting in early this month between government and military leaders at which the governor authorized the forcible confiscation of illegal arms.

One government official, speaking on condition of anonymity, pointed out that “none of these people would have been killed had the extremists obeyed the law and turned over their weapons voluntarily.”

Government troops initially succeeded in confiscating a large supply of outlawed weapons and ammunition. However, troops attempting to seize arms and ammunition in Lexington met with resistance from heavily-armed extremists who had been tipped off regarding the government’s plans.

During a tense standoff in the Lexington town park, National Guard Colonel Francis Smith, commander of the government operation, ordered the armed group to surrender and return to their homes. The impasse was broken by a single shot, which was reportedly fired by one of the right-wing extremists.

Eight civilians were killed in the ensuing exchange.

Ironically, the local citizenry blamed government forces rather than the extremists for the civilian deaths. Before order could be restored, armed citizens from surrounding areas had descended upon the guard units. Colonel Smith, finding his forces over matched by the armed mob, ordered a retreat.

Governor Gage has called upon citizens to support the state/national joint task force in its effort to restore law and order. The governor also demanded the surrender of those responsible for planning and leading the attack against the government troops.

Samuel Adams, Paul Revere, and John Hancock, who have been identified as “ringleaders” of the extremist faction, remain at large.

And this fellow Americans, is how the American Revolution began, April 20, 1775.

History, has a tendency to repeat itself.......

I don't think pat took the time to post this thread as a joke....

Thanks for the reminder Pat!

I think as a nation, we need to remember that our government was founded to protect us from tyranny, monarchy, oppression and the rule of a dictator. However if we aren't more careful with our choices and mindful of our nations future, and mindful of our governments actions both here on home soil and abroad, being ruled over is exactly what we will accomplish.

As a people, we have an obligation to one another to uphold our own rights when they are being challenged, even when the aggressor is one our own. If we as a people allow government to become so overbearing as to start physically removing weapons and ammo from civilians in an armed militia style, you can bet there will be resistance by those who were paying attention and saw it coming. It will be our own fault, as the people of this nation for not being involved enough in our own political infrastructure, and allowing big brother to overgrow it's boundaries, sometimes I feel like its almost like we are forcing government into a place of tyranny as a public incapable of moderation, half the time it seems like the government is trying to keep our greedy and gluttonous society afloat. Anymore we care to much about everything unimportant, whats happening right now and only now and nothing that seems relevant to our future or our children's future....

Remember this?

" I pledge allegiance, to the flag, of the United States of AMERICA, and to the republic for which it stands, ONE NATION under God, indivisible.....for freedom liberty and justice for all"

That pledge instilled patriotism into me every day, enough so that I remember it word for word 20+ years later! my own kids have never heard it before, do you see a problem there? cuz I do, without that patriotism we are are easier to rule, aren't we???

My opinion- Removing the pledge of allegiance from schools was only the first step to "de-patriotizing" our nation, with out the passion of a patriot, our government is just a big business enterprise looking to make a score, and we will become its drones, only here to feed the beast.

That's a dark and dismal road folks, unfortunately, we (as a country/nation) will most likely have to go down it at some point

You know what makes me feel good...

How many people make up our current active duty military?
VS.
How many active gun owning members does the NRA have?

National Rebel Army is more like it ;)

Sad to see the direction that our country is headed, it's no longer the harder you work the more you get. It's the harder you work the more we take and give to those who don't work. And the people making the rules (government) are no longer in politics to help american people but to fatten their pockets. Does anybody else see something wrong with a politician of any sort to i.e. Buy a bunch of stocks in insurance companies and then require everyone to have insurance or buy stocks in ammo companies and then purchase billions of rounds for the government and create a scare that wipes ammo off the the shelves all while fattening their own pockets? People absolutely need to start remembering what the government is supposed to do and take a second look at what they are actually doing.

My 5 year old son can recite the pledge of alegiance word for word and has been able to since before he turned 3 ;) My wife is a elementary school teacher and even though they do not / can not say it in school any longer we felt it was and is important for him to know, Maybe you should do the same if you feel that strongly? On another note what is up with "Happy Holidays" replacing Merry Christmas in school? That sh!t pisses me off! How in the hell is it offensive to foreigners and other religions to say "Merry Christmas"? I hate how P-u$$yfied society in general has become, bunch on ambulance chasing, sue happy, whistle blowing,, live off other people's hard work scum bags in the world IMO:mad:

^ exactly!

My wife is also a teacher and they still say the pledge of allegiance, at least some days. If they didn't do it over the loud speaker for the entire school, my wife still said it with her kids in her room because she feels its vitally important. She also still said Merry Christmas openly in spite of being told she couldn't. She received nothing but outstanding peer and principal reviews and the kids performed well in her class as compared to the others yet they didn't renew her contract after the first year? Hmm, reckon why? Reckon it had to do with her not conforming to their left-wing, anti-God, liberal academia BS agenda?

Pat you had me going there for a minute, but yes it is a good reminder.....the worst part about the government today is most of the people are there because it is just a way to stroke there egos.
If it is not politicy incorrect to say Marry Christmas, because it offends them and they are a minority here. What about them offending us with how they treat women and other people:confused:
