I ran a 366 t4 compounded with a 483. I really liked it, it spooled really easy. We sold the 483 and bought a 488. I never ran the 88 setup and will be selling the compound kit minus the 366. Another option is a 468. I was going to go that route with the 488, but went bigger all together.
From all accounts the 72/s483 is a great setup. Air to make 1000hp and they will still spool in a hurry. There was a thread here about a truck that went to diesel power challenge last year with a 366/480 twin kit. He swapped the 66 for a Danville 72 and said it was better in every way.
Mark Broviak ran that setup on his truck but his opinion might be a little biased lol. It is hard to dispute the numbers though. I believe he ran in the 10s in a 2wd with it. Brett has them on his c-10 and it believe he just went 8's.
I am currently running the 72 as a single and it definitely spools faster than my buddy's truck with a 366.
I will be able to tell you how a billet 68mm 4094avnt with a billet 483 does within the next couple weeks. Just dropped the 475 off to Mark so he can fix it up
Ive never had a s366 and I don't have the Danville 72 vgt but I do have the dts 71.5 vgt both start as the same charger.. it is compounded with a billet s483 and I can tell you this combo does very well together! On a 1950us tune it did 858 on a dyno
I run the Danville 72 and a Bullseye batmo 483 and love them. My street tune makes 750 hp and drives great. This setup is in my 69 so I don't know how well they would tow but I would think they would work fine for towing. My race tune dynoed 1106 hp at the wheels. I just ran a best of 9.2 @ 151mph with this setup.
I have a 480 over danville 72 . Tow a 35 ft 5th wheel, spools fast. I am staying with the 80 for towing. Loaded im 12500 minus the truck. Tow tune has hit 35-40 #, egt's are good, thats with a load. Tow tune unloaded has hit 50#. Turned up I have hit 70#.
On my truck the 72mm and 483tctBMW hit 70-72 psi at 1085rwhp. I'm bias but the 72mm vgt is a better choice than an S366, have had ALOT of customers switch from 366 to 72vgt with a better running truck as the results!
