lol been there done that the F-150 was shot after I did it too.

over 5,500lbs in a F-150 4x4 bent the real axle and frame all to shit. I had to put the truck in 4x4 to get it to move.

Mind you it was a 94

The axle will handle it fine. The stock suspension will be near, if not bottomed out. The tires.....that's another story.

Stock, there is about 3000# on the rear tires empty. (varies with bed/cab combos)

Stock tires at 3000# each will be running at 200% rating. Not good.

I, for instance, have tires rated at 3800# each. So I would be running at 140%. Not good, but would be tolerable in a pinch.

Dually tires run at about 2500# each X 4 or 10,000#. Minus truck, 7000# to work with.

Blue must be OK... He just came home and swapped trucks and told me I could drive Blue to closing ceremonies for softball if I wanted to.

You will be fine. We have had single rear wheel salt trucks carry over 5000 lbs and drive all over the place with them. We also have a dually 3500 that scaled 11000 lbs payload of salt and my dad actually drove it to breakfast. That truck has been a salt only truck since 2001 and carries over 8000 lbs regulary. I wouldn't even think twice about doing what your doing. All that being said we have 2 33k trucks now and we don't use pickups.

we use to haul 6k worth of sand on two pallets in the back of our old 93 ex/lb 3500 srw to get it to our plant. Was all we had at the time to get sand and we'd haul it 15 miles to the plant. suspension would almsot be on bumpstops but the truck never gave us an issue. did that for 5 years hauling sand once a month

Maybe a 1/2 or 3/4 inch sheet of plywood to help disperse the weight on the sheetmetal bed . I think the suspension will be fine bottomed out for 3 miles .

Blue is a diehard ..... :thumb:

There are 2 CMM's that are not functioning that I must move. The heaviest is about 6500, the other about 5000lb. I could pay $2000 to move them, or move them myself. The reason these are heavy is because they have a very thick granite slab for their base, and an iron superstructure. They don't look heavy but they are.

If I decide to just use Blue, I'll take pics. I might wuss out and use a trailer though.
