Hello guys, hoping for some feedback. I bought the LBZ and 4L80e that was in the for sale adds.

I also have a 4.8L gasser and all harnesses from an 04 wrecked half ton chevy. I bought 80 lb injectors and was going to put that with a built 4L80 in my 65 Malibu with a turbo on it and go for 650 rwhp and stay be lighter than the iron headed 468 ci BBC I had in it.

Now I am thinking about using the DMax in it, but obviously that would be much more cost or investment...

I'm on the fence on the idea, what are some thoughts?? I will post a couple pics of the car...

use the 4.8, get some 2,000cc injectors and run E-85. With a big enough charger it should make 800 easily.

ive heard the 2000s can be unstable and a pain in the ass to tune on e85. i know of one guy here in AZ having a hell of a time with them on his 1000rwhp 5th gen camaro

I'm on the fence because e85 isn't that accessible around here... i can sell my 80 lber's easy, then I'd buy 105 lbs and run higher base pressure, good 4 close to 1000 hp...

Diesel everywhere, I'd put a 68mm cheetah and some spray for raceday, lol. And I have an extra liftpump, I will need to buy 2 or 3 Walbro Pumps for fuel injected or a big Magnafuel pump...

Just give Russ and Rick a call and pick their brains. That swap would be similar to Rick's Chevelle.

Yeah, I'm gonna PM him, didn't see his number anywhere yet, didn't really look too hard though!

I know the 4.8 would be way cheaper in the end, but the diesel would be pretty cool and better economy, it will be 95% driver. I want to talk to them on ideas for making the 4L80 last or hold the torque...

Like it with a turbo LS but LOVE it with a hopped up dmax. I think if I ever get to do a dmax-powered muscle car, I'd highly consider running parallel turbos or at least a remote mounted single. The reason is two-fold; sound & uncover the engine as much as possible.

I LOVE the sound of the parallel turbo trucks out there (banks truck & dragster, wade's truck & rob's el camino)!!! Remote mounted singles are a close second.

they are not that hard to tune. Biggest problem he is having is probably with the new PCM and drive by wire. The Bosch 2000cc are very street able, they have been put in a stock-ish Honda and work fine.

If there is one E85 pump near by its worth it. E85 isn't just a fuel where you can run more timing, it makes spooling a big turbo on a small motor easy. As far as fuel pump problems, yes you will have to run a nice Magnafuel pump or something similar. However never run any Walbro or multiple pumps, thats asking for trouble. It takes a bit of research to find what intake manifold, and ect is needed but is worth it in the long run. Drivability and such will all be there, just fuel mileage will be down, but with the money saved using a 4.8 and not a duramax will easily cover that cost.

I know on the e85 4.8... That was 100% the plan, then I bought the lbz 4l80... But we were thinking of swapping it into my brother's 07 Yukon Denali XL, but I'm not sure what it takes to make the coil half ton frontend take the weight of the dmax, then I would have his 6.2L ls to put in my 65 malibu, BADASS!!!

I just started a business and got an EIN and LLC, I like the diesel stuff, but man is it spendy!!! I thought the diesel muscle car would be a good advertisement and centerpiece, lol... Not 100% sure what I'll do yet.

209-509-9704 if you have any questions on the Chevelle or Nova when the time comes. It's pretty straight foward. The front 1/2 of the pan is cut even with the mid section, and we took 2" out of the lower pan and added kickouts. The motor mounts are SBC solid mounts mounted to a piece of 3/8" steel bolted to the block. There was never a need for a fan, not even daily driving in traffic. And only had a cheap $150 A/A IC off of E-Bay with the stock turbo. Even with the triples we never needed a fan, and switched to a $150 A/W IC from E-Bay. We are going to try a new manifold we are working with HSP on in the Nova next season, fingers crossed that it works like planned.
